So I was looking through my storage stuff & stumbled across a Colecovison, the steering wheel for Turbo, and a handful of games. The system is still in original styrofoam, and the outer box is 75% there too. I was thinking about selling it, but I hate to get rid of it if I can't get a few bucks for it. Does anyone know if any games are worth a premium? One game I have is Spy Hunter, which I never even remembered having.

Upon further digging, I found an Atari 2600, wireless controllers, paddles, and about 20 games. Again, is this even worth selling, or is it worth more to keep it for nostalgia reasons? Would the going rates for these systems let you part with them, or would you keep them (even if you don't play them)?

They had wireless controllers for the 2600? I don't remember ever seeing those around, but then again I was 7 or 8 when we had the system.

I would imagine that it wouldn't be worth the trouble to sell them. Just guessing, but even if you sold each item separately (max value that way), and got fairly high bids, you'd make maybe $100 after fees. Not worth it for that kind of effort if you ask me.

I would keep them. But I'm a nostalgic packrat that plays my 2600 games almost as much as my 360.

Someday you may get nostalgic and hook it up. Or a friend or relative may want them more than you. Or just freecycle them, someone out there would get more use and enjoyment out of them than you maybe.

Gawd I miss my Colecovision. Remember the Atari add on? Can you imagine one of the big 3 companies making an add on where you could just play the other guy's games in this day and age? Play your 360 games on you PS3 or you Wii games on your 360?

I'd love a PSwii60.

I have beaten Venture. Flipped it twice in the same game. It just keeps going, so no ending there.

I personally feel the ColecoVision was one of the best systems ever. An amazing catalog and graphics, for the time, that couldn't be touched. I also, like DVDSteve2000 have a Coleco, mint in box with some wear on the outer box. Something I started with the Coleco, is having 2 of every system I've owned. One to use, One Mint in box to play years down the road and show my kids when I have them. yes, I have 2 sets of Super Action controllers, 2 Turbo Wheels, 2 Atari 2600 adapters, but sadly only one Roller Controller.

In my mid 30's now, I'm setting up my Man-Cave to play all my old systems. Still some favorites for Coleco are Venture, WarGames, Omega Race, Slither, Congo Bongo, Buck Rogers, Zaxxon, Super Action Baseball/Football/Rocky Boxing, Donkey Kong, LadyBug...

One of the coolest things about the Colecovision was that you could put their crappy controller aside if it wasn't needed and just plug the 2600 controller in the same slot.

Holy carp! On the way home tonight, I passed by a new store --or at least one I had never noticed before. This store sold nothing but old video games. I walked in and looked around and they had games and hardware for every major 20th century console: 2600, Odyssey2, Colecovision, Intellivision, Neo Geo, Sega Master System, Sega Genesis, NES, SNES, the Saturn, the Gameboy, and others I'm not remembering right now. It was unreal seeing all those old consoles and games in one place.

For anyone in Chicago, it's on the 3200 block of North Clark Street, just south of School St.

Glad I don't live near Chicago. I'd spend an entire paycheck in that store.

2600 is probably the best video game system ever made if you like classic gaming.

Worth it for Dig Dug and Ms. Pacman alone

I have the wireless Atari 2600 controllers in my garage as well. Don't know how we got them, as we didn't have them back when we had a 2600. Might have been something we found at my grandmothers house. She had a lot of random stuff. I've thought about hooking them up to my Atair Flashback, since its supposed to support original controllers, but I haven't gotten around to it.

In general, the most highly sought after games by collectors are the smaller-run, third-party games. One of the the most famous is the Artillery Duel/Chuck Norris "double ender" cartridge. This was released by a company called Xonox who's big gimmick was sticking two games in one cartiridge. You would play the Chuck Norris game, pull out the cartridge, flip it upside down, plug in the other end, and then play Artillery Duel. Both games were terrible, BTW. But, back in the day (4 or 5 years ago) it was valued at around $100. Here is a link to an old ColecoVison Rarity Price Guide that still appears to be up and running...

Playing Rocky on those controllers against a friend was always pretty sweet. I still have my system, the carts, add ons, and even manuals all stashed away in boxes but haven't looked at them in years.

It reminds me of the Vectrex system I had with every cartridge (rare ones too) and peripheral except I donated that one to a children's ward at a local hospital.
