the 500 point fifa world cup challenges achievement. I had never played a soccer game before that one, and some of those challenges were insanely difficult.

100% TTFAF in GHIII. Granted it was on easy but that was still a 1102 note streak.

Earth Defense Force 2017: All Weapons Acquired

I love this game with its crappy graphics and poor physics. It was a blast from start to finish, but getting that last achievement was brutal. I think I ended up with about 80 hours in the game and then probably spent another 20 helping a friend get all the achievements on 2-player.

With all the Live problems lately, mine would have to be "Complete one multiplayer game in Uno".

LOL, it took me about 20 hours to get that one. I have permanently lost feeling at the tip of my middle finger and had to buy two new controllers after smashing them trying to get those 20 points for the 1000. But...

You're the winner in my book. I'll forever be at 960 on that, as I don't think I could ever put me or my 360 through the 3-day survivor, forget the seven. But in the end, Dead Rising definitely had the best achievements system and probably to the testament of the game replayability as well, I was perfectly happy to play the entire game through multiple times just to get various measly 20 point achievements. LOL, 20 point achievements across the board for falling off a ledge and 20 points for All Saints and Seven-Day Survivor . It's all good!

All the acheivements I spent racking up on Marvel Ultimate Alliance.

I played through the whole game with my son who was only four and five when we played. He really caught on and got quite good.

It became something we both looked forward to during my separation with his mother and through the difficult time where I became a non-custodial father. So, the acheivements give me an extra-good feeling.

same here. Some of them had me ready to throw my controller through my TV. There was EXTREME satisfaction when I was finally done.

Actually that reminds me: Burnout Revenge: getting ALL the single player achievements. Took about 60 hours getting golds on everything.

1000/1000 in Oblivion

I'm not a big gamerscore point-getter, but for some reason I was fixated on getting all the achievement points in Oblivion.

Me too. That was so much fun going after that, and also I was real proud of getting a top 5 time on the leaderboards on one of the courses.

This is more a testament to patience than being difficult. It will take about 14 hours of real time, without saves. The megabuster makes this easy, if you can keep from jumping in to a pile of zombies to relieve the tedium. Transmissionary has been much harder for me.

Exactly. 14 hours for 20 pts = no sale

Not quite video gaming, but definitely arcade: I won an international pinball tournament a few years back, and have a nice big PAPA trophy and NIB pinball machine in the gameroom to show for it.

Scoring over a million on Poker Smash. Not bad considering my highest combo is 9x and I ended at speed level 72. I found the trick for people like me is to score as many straight flushes as possible between levels 1-20 or so and, after that, just stay alive and make sure to complete all of the hand challenges/bonuses. I realized soon that if if didn't have over 100,000 going into level 10 it was a lot less likely that I would get the achievement.

That must have been euphoric to win something like that! Sweet.

I also remember back in the day winning 70 consecutive matches in Mortal Kombat II at my local arcade. That was probably the pinnacle of my arcade going experience.

One that comes to mind for me is "The One Free Bullet" (Beat Episode One firing exactly one bullet. Grenade, crowbar, rocket, and Gravgun kills are okay!.)from Half-life 2 episode 1. Not necessarily hard but sometimes in the heat of the action it was tempting to use a good ole shotgun sometimes

Now off to launch that garden gnome into space in episode 2
