Unreal Tournament 3 - 360 - Update

Well it's almost here..scheduled for summer release (no month) but here's so info and a new trailer. Maybe the wait will be worth-while as some content is 360 exclusive only. Good looking screens and trailer.

i really like this game on PS3...

astounding graphics and so much depth to play...

i got 40 kills 17 deaths last night in a deathmatch on 'The Deck' last night with around a dozen players... #1 baby...

love it...

the warfare where you can hop in those helicopter and tanks and other vehicles is wild stuff... you can fly down and kill players by hitting them... you have to keep an eye out... and jump on your 'silver surfer' surfboard and take off surfing across the map... too cool...

i can easily give this game a very good recommendation...

Summer release for Unreal Tournament III
Written Saturday, April 19, 2008 by Neil Christie

Epic Games and Midway have confirmed that Unreal Tournament III, the latest version of their popular arena-based shooter, will be coming to Xbox 360 "this summer".

The million-selling game has been available on PC since November 2007 and appeared on PlayStation 3 the following month. An Xbox 360 version has long been promised but has never had a firm date applied to it. Epic and Midway's statement has narrowed the release window down, and they're promising a few bonuses for patient Xbox 360 owners.

There will be five exclusive maps to try, two new characters and support for up to two players split-screen. As with the other versions of the game, downloadable content will be free.

This is a lot of fun on PS3, and I imagine they won't change the gameplay up on 360, so it should be a good deal for 360 fans.

I think the only reason I'd take the PS3 over 360 is the fact that it has freely downloadable content.

I love the 'bot play, because I'm just an average player at best. So I crank up the AI level and just play bots most of the time :-) (who, at higher AI, get really nasty!)

According to the quoted post above yours, downloadable content on the 360 will also be free.

Well, what I meant was on PS3, they allow open modding. It's not like the 360, where the DLC may be free, but has to first pass Microsoft certification.

Yeah some of the PS3 mods are really cool!

Well here's another on hands preview over at Teamxbox.

http://previews.teamxbox.com/xbox-36...urnament-3/p2/

The Bad - yea no editor for mods and not able to play pc or PS3 generated ones.

The Good - Split screen mode for two on the same console for both campaign and online.

Will have "ALL" the same maps plus three that were released afterwards. Plus (3) maps for the 360 only

Bots involved in online matches. Not enough players...no problem.

I know the "Editor" can be a killer but it's not like we've had to have it before and made it so far. I suspect though both Midway and Epic will have DL goodies to keep it going.

Picked up the PS3 version for $25 used from Gamestop, I have to say I think Epic shot themselves in the foot with this one (postponing the 360 version).

Well the latest if no-one knows is scheduled for July 7th release. It may have turned out for the best since we have to wait for both GOW2 (November) and COD5 (December). For the 360 we'll get...

*Split screen mode for both off & on-line play
* Five new maps for the 360 only, not on the pc or PS3
* Two new characters
* All the downloadable content that was released for the pc and PS3

Be sure to check the link below to Gamespot as they've got some new stills off the 360 version that look stunning.

This shot pretty much says it all...

There is a new review up at TeamXBox for the MP and they gave it a "9.2". I've played the single player demo on the pc and this could be a blast on the MP side.

Kind of forgot about this. I used to play the old Unreals on the PC all the time. I'll definitely be picking this one up. Hope they have a good soundtrack like the old ones.

And obviously, Facing Worlds needs to make a return.

I just read this was part of an official DLC for the PS3, so hopefully it is included in the 360 version. By far my favorite map in the old days.

EDIT: Damn, I just saw a video on youtube of this map from the PS3 version. It looks fucking awesome. AND, the best part, is the original song, Foregone Destruction, is used again!!!! I am overcome with nostalgia, and VERY happy I didn't get Bad Company yesterday. Bring on July 7!

Couple more:

The Bad - full $60 price tag, as opposed to the PS3 version which can be found from $20-$40.

The Good - 360 controller much better for FPSs (as is Xbox Live for multiplayer). And I guess they also improved the graphics and frame-rate.

Some of our Europe and aussie friends have hands on reviews and so far the overal feeling is the framerate is solid even with split screen with Bots and explosions everywhere.

I know no mod support and in the Unreal universe that's big but everyone is raving about the split screen as it's not just for MP but for coop play to. Besides that the two new characters and extra maps will make it worth-while.

Coming from the same bunch that gave us Gears they've had a full extra 8 months to tweak an already good looking game for the pc and PS3. So far it's 9.7 to 10's on the graphics.

I've been playing the pc Demo again this week and if the Bots are the same in the 360 version they're no push over. They've got 7 different levels alone. I think you'll be able to go head-to head with say two players and five bots on each team. I don't know if you'll be able to do say 4-5 players against an all Bot Team?

I'm surprised the usual Gears, COD4 and Halo 3 crowd isn't posting in this thread. This is the perfect game to hold us over until Gears 2 comes out. I loved the PC demo and plan on getting the 360 version. I really could care less about the mod support.

I normally wouldn't care either, but there are some cool mods out there for this:

The PS3 version allowed you to use a keyboard and mouse.

I, and many others would not be able to use that on our couch/sofas. Furthermore, while a mouse is fine and dandy for aiming, a keyboard is a shit-sandwich for movement - I'll take an analog stick for movement/strafing over a keyboard any day of the week.
