I think it was funny cause the guy kinda points out how history is repeating itself.

Atari would have killed for the 7800 to sell the units the PS3 is selling. The video is pretty lame if you ask me.

But is the 7800 backwards compatible with the 2600?

Ditto.

Putting a under that video should bring charges of false advertising. What in the world did the OP see that made him think that was worthy of calling to everybody's attention... with a laughing smilie to boot?

After 4 minutes of that train wreck, I had to watch the rest out of almost-morbid curiosity. And, sure enough, the remainder was just as deadly dull and humorless as the beginning.

No.

He might be trying to be the Sleep-Inducing Video Game Nerd, though.

Boring. And he has horrible taste in controllers. The Sega Genesis and Playstation as best controllers of all time? Pshhhaaa.....

But I did not know that about using genesis controllers for the 7600 very interesting.

yeah, that was the only part of the video with any value. i didn't know that either. now i'm gonna scour the thrift stores for a genesis controller to use with my 2600. i love the system, but i'm not a big fan of the 2600 joysticks, so i tend to mostly play the paddle/driving controller games.

but he doesn't do that. he draws some very thin parallels and then explains how the video game market is much different now and the PS3 will likely thrive for years to come. there was nothing funny about it and i don't think he even intended for it to be funny.

I thought the same thing but he went nowhere with it. You and I see where it could have gone, but it was all for naught. The 7800 came out late with limited software and Nintendo dominated the industry. PS3 came out late with limited software and Xbox & Nintendo dominated the industry.

The part about the 7800 power supply sounded like he was trying to make a joke, but maybe I'm reading too much into that.

If I ever see Al Gore, I am going to punch him in the face for this.....
