Yup.

In the NES incarnation, the folks that normally needed boosting the most were Cristo and Nara (whatever their names are now...the Healer folks). They always seemed to have the most trouble keeping up, oddly even the mages tended to have more HP, etc.

I'm not sure if that will be the same here, but I'd save them for Ch5 when you can get a good feel for who could use what.

In the long run, Alena is likely to top out or near top out her Agility if you get high enough level, Ragnar and the fighter types are more likely to top out their Strength, etc...so try to use them to supplement a weakness IMO rather than boosting a strength.

Thanks for the tips. I'll just hang on to the seeds for now and concentrate on rescuing the wee bairns.

I'm up to Chapter 2 and I'm loving it so far. It's really nice to have a traditional RPG on the DS instead being tied to a console system. Level grinding keeps me entertained on my commute to and from work.

Wow. Normally I try to watch the road on my commute. I mean, I love DQ and the convenience of the DS, but even I have limits.

Actually I should have clarified that I take mass transit. I leave the driving to NJ Transit.

Apparently you can take everything in your bag to Chapter 5...this will probably break the budget / balance of Ch5 since you can walk out of Taloon's chapter 3 with 99 Cautery Swords in the bag worth well over 100k.

:S

I'm trying to resist doing it.

In the NES version all you could take was your whole inventory (7-8 slots, basically).

Well, I've beaten the bonus dungeon bosses eight times to get all the Pandemonic equipment and utterly massacred the "new" final boss, so anything else I can do in this game would quantify as obsessive compulsive so I think it's finally time to let this one go again.

Good night, sweet price. We'll meet again someday.

WB! I'm still on chapter 6 and haven't even played it since I finished the *main* quest.

There's a chapter 6? Bonus dungeon? Guess I didn't put too much thought into this one as I just ran through it. Realized at the end that I never played it to completion before as I didn't remember the endgame at all. I guess that was on my emulator and I got bored sitting in front of the computer to play it.

It's really hard to appreciate any RPG's post game content after seeing Dragon Quest VIII utterly destroy and perfect the idea. You're not missing too much if you put the game down now (but it's still a lot of fun if you're still into the game).

Pinata, the bonus content was not in the NES game.

Yeah, I realize that it wouldn't have been in the NES version, that was really just me saying that I never finished the NES version as the end of Chapter 5 on the DS was all new to me.

So is the bonus dungeon in Chapter 6? I guess I need to load my save again and see what's going on...

Yeah, if you saved after the credits you should have the bonus dungeon opened up now.

Good deal. I've been playing Arkanoid at gymnastics for the last few weeks while I wait for DQV to drop. This will be a nice change.

I finally picked this game up the other day and got it for free because Toys 'R Us is running a deal where, if you buy two games, you get one free. I also bought Chrono Trigger and I decided to play that first. Holy shit, that's an incredible game.

How long is Chapters of the Chosen?

Re: Dragon Quest IV: Chapters of the Chosen (Nintendo DS)

I recently got this game and playing it for the first time since the 8-bit original.

Question, the new addition in the game, the New Town that you can build where the bazaar used to be, how do you get more people to join? And also, what does the character you get to create there do?

No one knows?

I'm starting to get more people in the New Town, but I'm guessing that people with Wi-Fi connections can share their villagers too?

Re: Dragon Quest IV: Chapters of the Chosen (Nintendo DS)

Just finished this game last night (or at least, finished Chapter 5 and opened up Chapter 6). Put in about 40 hours.

Great game. Time to go pick up DQ V soon!

I'm glad you liked it!

DQIV and DQV are both in my Top 5 Games of Forever.
