Just heard about this. Theres now a Dreamcast.com website. Supposedly when you sign up you input your serial code found on your Dreamcast. Rumor is that Sega is trying to resurrect the Dreamcast console or making a new one. I still own a Dreamcast and I think it would be cool if they started making new games for it. But this is probably just a pipe dream. Anyone else think this could happen?

I was really disappointed that the Dreamcast never caught on. It was vastly superior to all other consoles of its time. I still have mine. Soul Calibur and Powerstone are still favorites around my house.

Displaying your health status on the VMU was one of the best ideas I've ever seen.

And in two posts you guys pretty much summed up all the good (U.S.) software. Don't get me wrong, I still have my DC hooked up to my tv, but no support equals dead.

Honestly, I didn't see the point because I don't see why anyone would want to look down at the controller in the middle of a game.

I always preferred the Dreamcast to the PS2.

Rez was the main thing I would still hook it up for these days though, and with Rez HD that is no longer necessary.

Not with that ridiculous controller.

Plus some of the games had little mini games that could be downloaded on the VMU making it a handheld device.

Considering the alternative was pausing the game, I found it welcome.

I thought the VMU made perfect sense for sports games like football. It allowed you to select your plays on the small screen so the guy next to you couldn't see your selection, brilliant. Granted the controller was as big as a house but it was functional.

My sole reason for having a dreamcast currently(actually 2 in case the other craps out on me)is for Shenmue. I have probably finished this game 3 or 4 times over the years and with my Shenmue II playable on Xbox/Xbox 360 I would hate not having the ability to enjoy the whole series from time to time. It is a shame this game could never do well enough in sales. Great games....I would love to see a 3rd installment. I would honestly be happy to contribute money toward the development and release...if all Shenmue fans had the ability to contribute...I am sure they would thereby offsetting fears of a money loser for the developer. How many Shenmue fans are out there? 50000-100000? I would be happy to contribute $100.00 with the assurance they would release the game.

One of the biggest things that killed the dreamcast was piracy. Once the damage had been done it got to the point where people didn't even have to modify their systems to play illegally burned games. Very sad because I did enjoy that system greatly.

Same for me, along with some of the Capcom fighters and the first Soul Calibur. Most of these games still look pretty good, especially using the VGA cable on an HDTV or computer monitor.

A lot of stuff on the Dreamcast seems like it would do pretty well now, with the rise of casual gaming and "non"-games. In that respect it was somewhat ahead of its time.

Definitley. I know many many people who have the entire library burned.

I got my DC at a yard sale with several games, including SDA and two maraca controllers. I think I paid like $40 for a huge box of DC stuff. A few years later I sold the lot on eBay for several hundred, and got at least 10 e-mails a day asking if I'd sell it outside eBay.

I have my dreamcast..and it still works. I loved skies of arcadia nad MVC2.

Still have my dreamcast and a few games.
Chu Chu Rocket saw most of my game time.
The sonic game was decent as well. It was one of the games that put stuff on the VMU and you could play a little mini game that was sort of like Tamagatchi.

I remember how torn I was the day Dreamcast was launched because it was also the day that FF:IX was released. I ended up playing Soul Calibur and NFL 2K all day and pulled an all-nighter playing Final Fantasy.

Using the VMU's to select plays while playing a 2 player game of NFL was one of the greatest things. The only way to truly have no idea what play the other person was choosing.

This alone made it the superior console in my eyes.

I loved the Dreamcast, but the controller actually hurt my hands. I remember playing both Virtua Tennis' and my thumbs would be in pain for days.
