There is a site dcforums.co.uk that have DC Fans and homebrew stuff. They have managed to get MarioKart64 running on the DC also a low resolution Divx player.

Do you guys know what type of audio cable will be needed to get audio from the VGA cable?

lotsofdvds 03-19-08 09:31 AM

People who bitch about the 360 being too loud never played the Dreamcast. ;)

lordzeppelin 03-19-08 09:32 AM

It will just be L-R audio - the Dreamcast had no digital audio out or anything.

For what it's worth, I've got mine hooked up via S-Video...

BBEANLPHIE 03-19-08 10:30 AM

Correct, but I see that it only has 1 hole for audio out?

lordzeppelin 03-19-08 10:49 AM

Oh, if you're talking about that VGA cable linked earlier in the thread, it looks like a regular Stereo out Jack that would split in to L-R...

BBEANLPHIE 03-19-08 11:35 AM

ah ok. Do you have it hooked up to your PC? Cause I will be playing this on my pc as I only have VGA input on for my 360. Since I have speakers to connected to the audio in on my pc would I need a special wire to connect to another port on the computer? Mic maybe?

Y-Splitter

Depends on what type of sound setup you're hooking it to. If you're just plugging in PC speakers, and they have a mini stereo jack, you'll be fine. If you are going to a surround receiver or something of that nature, you'll need a Stereo Mini jack to L-R RCA cable (y splitter as martin said).

Still have mine and enjoy it regularly via the VGA output.
Favorite games include:

Shenmue I and II (import)
Skies of Arcadia
Crazy Taxi
Fire Pro D (import)
Ikaruga (import)

I'm going to call you on that. I've never heard anything even remotely close to that about the Dreamcast's controllers.

I like how everyone points out how big the Dreamcast controller was, but always forget to mention how huge the original Xbox controller was. Yes they changed to a smaller controller later in the console's life, but who's to say Sega might not have done the same if they kept the Dreamcast around?

^--- It's not the size of the controller that people complain about, it's the design/ergonomics of it.

Nah. Hate 'em both. Wasn't a fan of the Xbox "Duke" either. The Wavebird was the best last gen with the Xbox-S a close second.
