Rock Band: Official Thread Pt. 5

Continued from: Rock Band: Official Thread Pt. 4

Summary: Rock Band is awesome! Harmonix/EA are still ironing out the kinks in the peripherals, but are doing free replacements. Some people like the Strat, but most prefer the Les Paul (360 only). Online BWT is still a pipedream.

I've created a GamerTag for all the 360 rockers, to benefit from the new Friends of Friends feature. If you'd like to join, send a request to DVDTalk Rocks and I'll add you. Use this to find other people to rock with on online Band Quickplay. If you see me on and still need Riding With Coattails, send me an invite and I'll let you ride.

New Downloadable Content (DLC) is released weekly.
XBox 360 - 4:00 AM EST
PS3 - Thursdays (don't have exact time)

More detailed information of all available and upcoming DLC is available in the next post of this thread.

Official DLC Post

I have compiled a list of the varying difficulties for each song on each instrument, as well as youtube links to all songs on Expert guitar and Expert drums when available.
This information is gathered from the tracks that I own, with the gaps being filled in from other various sources. If anyone has any of the missing information, PM me and I'll get it thrown in here.

I have put them into spoiler sections per L&O's request, as well as to keep this first page uncluttered.

The format for the difficulties is:
Guitar/Bass/Drums/Vocals/Band

The current week's DLC is updated on Tuesday AM when the songs are officially available for download on 360.
If you are looking for the upcoming week's DLC, check the Announced DLC section near the bottom of this post.

The NIN stuff is this week? I thought that was last week...ugh quite a drought here for me, then. Haven't downloaded anything for weeks now, I hope it picks back up.

Of course I know it's all down to personal taste, but their taste has sucked lately. Where's the Pixies pack? Or some Interpol maybe?

There's a Grateful Dead 6-pack this Tuesday, check 'announced DLC' in Shagrath's post. Not sure if it's you're cup o' tea, but it's something new. Myself, I'm going to Youtube the songs tomorrow and decide if any look like fun.

I decided to put a spreadsheet together to see how much we've spent on DLC (face value, not counting what I paid for points cards if I got them cheaper or as gifts).

$63!

Also, I put in for a replacement guitar (3rd time) and drums (1st time) on Friday. I hope I get some good equipment now.

I don't update the "This Week's DLC" section until the DLC is actually up. And since I'm not up at 4AM EST, it gets updated whenever I wake up on Tuesday mornings. I do this because I don't want people to think that those songs are already available and get disappointed.

I'll make an update to the DLC post in a bit explaining my mentality. The new songs are usually announced on Fridays and those will go into the "Announced DLC" section as soon as I see it.

EDIT: DLC info for 3/4/08 (Grateful Dead Pack) is fully updated.

So I'm guessing there is 1 or 2 more 6-packs coming yet from The Grateful Dead? Touch of Grey is the one I'd be most interested in. I thought I'd maybe grab Truckin' and maybe one other, but watching those videos, they actually all look pretty fun. Depending on my mood tonight, I might just end up splurging and grabbing them all, mainly because there hasn't been much of interest to me lately and the announced upcoming songs don't thrill me either.

Franklin's Tower is great to play on guitar; haven't tried out the drums or vocals yet.

Yeah, didn't they initially announce that there would be like 18 songs or something?

Thanks again for the bang-up work, Shagrath!

I haven't decided on this one yet. The guitar looks fun in all the vids, but the drums look obnoxious on several.

Ah I see now. You're doing a great service with your updates, by the way - thanks for all your work!

And I can't remember ever hearing a Grateful Dead song in my life, all I know of is the "culture" surrounding them. I'll give the songs a listen, though.

Upstrum perfect bass tunes.. can it only be completed during Multiplayer? Or can you complete this on Solo Quickplay (if you are signed in)?

I think it's only in Band World Tour. I believe I did it (got 100%, pretty sure it was all upstrums) on expert Maps by the Yeah Yeah Yeahs during guickplay and didn't get the achievement. I was mighty pissed.

If going for the Authentic Strummer achievement, make sure you never downstrum, not even on Big Rock Endings.

I definitely got the Authentic Strummer achievement in Single Player Quick Play. I did that and the 100% Guitar expert one with the Garbage song, since it is fairly simple and repetitive.

You could probably easily get the 100% Guitar expert one on El Scorcho also.

You can definitely get the 100% Achievements on quickplay. I got the guitar one on El Scorcho, and the bass one on The Collector.

I would do a little dance of joy if more GD song packs came out.

No not at all. I'm still at work so i have yet to play them.

I would just be excited for some more of there cuts to come out. Personally i'd like to see another bundle in like 5-6 months. Since it is Rock Band they focus on the rock but drop some of these folky things every so often for the sake of variety.

Holy crap, I'm glad I took the plunge on the GD songs. Those are fun on guitar. I'm actually exhausted, because a few of them are just constant movement (and HO/PO-mania).

Ok, Flirtin' With Diaster on Hard - how the fuck? This is the only thing standing in my way of finishing the Solo Tour on Hard and I just can't make any sense of the solo.

Even in practice, I can't get past 60%. It doesn't make any sense to me. Do I just save star power and sludge through it?
