Fuck, there's way too many things I want. The Onkyo 605, a new laptop, and now...a 360.

I get my childhood back!

go buy an N64 and Goldeneye. I'm sure it's cheaper than a 360.

I thought this game wasn't happening?

And those graphics look nice but Goldeneye is a pretty big game. Are they really gonna spend all that money cleaning it up for hd?

The story goes like this: Microsoft commissions Rare to develop an Xbox Live Arcade version of their N64 hit GoldenEye, game nears completion, Microsoft fails to agree terms with Nintendo and other rights holders, project is shelved, Rare employee leaks video and images, cynics cry they're fake, Rare employee vanishes from net (likely murdered by ninja lawyers), Xbox 360 World believes Rare employee, gets hold of the game, teases people for a week with snippets of one screenshot, finally reveals that they are indeed running a feature on the game, posts below image to advertise their magazine (out February 27th), reveals that the game still isn't going to be released, states that the issue will include details on how gamers can take action to force the various rights holders to release the game. Story concludes.

So in other words - marketing to sell more copies of the magazines to help drive ad revenue for the rest of the year. Yawn.

Why would they do that much programming work without finalizing the rights with Nintendo first?

Rare & MS, get this game out there, that way we can move on to Killer Instinct.

Thank you.

I never owned an N64 but one day my buddy and played more Goldeneye than I ever thought we could in a 24 hour period. A new Killer Instinct game would be a great way to ease my pain. I still listen to the soundtrack to the old console game probably once a week while I am at work. I was a huge fan of the game. When I had my SNES I was kinda in my very brief non-gaming phase so I owned 2 games for the system. KI was my outlet after stressful college classes.

Or if MS isn't interested, why not pitch it to Nintendo for the Wii virtual console?

That's kinda what this whole mess was about: releasing the original on the virtual console in return for allowing the upgraded port on XBLA... or that's what I thought.

For what it's worth all those screencaps could have been made with a simple emulator and new textures. I've had enough of this junk whatever the outcome.
