Lost Planet PS3?

I had no idea Lost Planet was coming out for the PS3 until I saw an ad in a flyer on Friday. Only a couple years behind the 360 version, but I remember the game intrigued me then.

I'm thinking about picking this up when it's released next week. Has anyone been able to find any reviews of it yet?

It's only a year behind the 360 release. It came out in January '07.

Both Metacritic and Gamerankings have a 74-76% average based on the same 4 reviews, which looks to be about 4% below the 360 counterpart thus far.

I played the 360 version. It was a fun diversion-type game that filled in a gap in the schedule for meatier games. Achievements gave it some replay value, so I'm not sure how it is on the PS3. The cutscenes are overly long but at least they are skippable. I gave up on the story around Chapter 3 (out of a total of 10). It is a fun game with some great boss battles. Don't be fooled by the third-person shooter aspect as it turns into a Mech game about halfway through.

Thanks for those links. I did my usual google search for game_name + system + metacritic but for some reason I didn't get a result. Oh well. Sounds like a fun game, and I'm happy about the low MSRP.

I bought Assassin's Creed before the weekend on sale at Future Shop, but given the mixed reaction to that game (and the fact that I'm really into the historical kind of setting) I think I'll return it and use that money toward Lost Planet instead. It may also be a bit repetitive (according to some reviews) but it's sci-fi repetitiveness, which is still better in my book.

I enjoyed it - although a bit short and repetitive. The multiplayer was fun, but honestly I haven't popped it in since finishing it. The new maps on the PS3 might be worth it - if enough people buy the game in the first place.

It is short and from the achievements it appears to be geared towards multiple play throughs like Dead Rising. Ulike Dead Rising though, once is enough.

PS3 owners should be aware that this is another Capcom game that requires a 5GB install on the hard drive. So if you've got a small HD, this could be a problem.

I'd been looking forward to getting this on the PS3. But I just got a new 360 last week. So I picked up that version since it's cheaper (got a new one for $20 on eBay).

I should add that while the 360 version is cheaper, the PS3 version has all the downloadable content included on the disc (the additional maps are free downloads on the 360). And the PS3 has some exclusive playable characters.

I think it's $20 at CC right now as well.

It's supposed to be a bad version? Or you have all you need with the 360 version?

It's all in good fun, every time I see Lost Planet, I think of you!

It's all good.

No I just think that if a I had a PS3, 99% of time I would probably pick a 360 version over the PS3 version even if the PS3 version had extra stuff.

Re: Lost Planet PS3?

Finally got around to picking this up. The $40 price tag (that didn't waver for over a year) finally dropped by more-or-less half, and I got it for ~$15.

It's no $9.99 clearance price at Best Buy US, but it's low enough for me. Hopefully, Capcom gets around to releasing the sequel on the PS3 as well, and not a full year after the 360 version either.
