Seriously, games on xbox live arcade are $10
No, most of the old-school games like Pac Man and Galaga are 400 points ($5).

With that last completely inaccurate statement from VAMPYRE, I'm not going to continue to fall into this trap. And, I apologize for my part in derailing the topic at hand.

Can I be the first to say it's time to lock this topic up?
Or at the very least get it back on point.

MOST of the games on xbox live arcade including Castlevania, Bejeweled 2, Boom Boom Rocket, Bomberman, Undertow, Ultra minigolf, Alien Homonid, Arkadian Warriors, Assault Heroes, Band of bugs, Bankshot Billiards, Battlestar Gallactica, Boogie Bunnies, Carcassonne, Catan, Chessmaster, Cloning clyde, and Astropop ALL cost $10. In fact, I just checked and 87% of all xbox live arcade games cost $10. So that means only 13% cost $5. So I was assuming qbert was in the 87% category. whoops.....

I don't understand why so many people try to "split the baby" and for the PS3 into either the game console or disc player category. It is a package deal. I bought my PS3 on 1/5/08 specifically because it was a package deal. Blu-ray playback alone wasn't enough. Multimedia capabilities alone weren't enough. HiDef gameplay alone wasn't enough. No 2 of those were enough.

Microsoft and Sony are obviously taking different approaches. Microsoft has chosen a tightly locked down approach, where even the hardware you buy really isn't your own (360 harddrive for example). For many people that works... they don't care to retain control of their media experience. They're happy with the "black box" approach and just want to be able to pick from available options.

Sony (in an ironic twist) took a more open approach. One isn't necessarily better than the other, but better suits individual tastes.

Let's not make rash conclusions based on someone's extremely one sided conversation.

Vampyre - looks like this was moved from the HD forum - and I don't know how those mods run things over there but some of your comments reek of shill and generally won't be well received over here in VG land. So please - keep this civil or it will be closed with a quickess. So far - it's been civil, but these things can sway the other way VERY quickly.

I just bought a PS3 because it has something for everyone in my family: a BD player for the adults and a nice game console for the kids. The fact that I can put Linux on it (one of these days when I can find some time to play with Ubuntu) is icing on the cake.

One sided? I have both systems and have been on XBOX live since the 1st week of it's launch. I just get tired of hearing how the PS3 has "failed" as a gaming system and that the 360 has "superior" games when it's absolutely not true. Like I said earlier, this is coming from a gamer that has a 11,580 gamerscore on XBOX live and a level 45 Brigadier on Halo 3. Who are you going to believe? A person who actually beta tests games and systems (and gets paid to do it) or someone who just got their PS3 "only as a blu-ray player" and has only spent time on xbox live. I have spent time on both systems and I'm giving you insight into my REAL experience. I do not expect someone who "finally just signed up for their PS3 online account" today to know enough to give a valid opinion on which system is better or worse. Of course they are going to say the system they have spent the last two years playing on is better. Why? Because it's what they are used to and they know how to navigate through the user interface better. I was trying to explain that I have spent time learning both very well and that both are equally as good in different ways. They both have their strong points. You might want to go back and read what I wrote, because I was never one sided. I am probably the best Halo 3 player on this entire forum. Here is proof: http://www.bungie.net/Stats/Halo3/De...yer=VAMPYRE+XX
Level 45 is no joke. The difference in leveling up in Halo 3 is it doesn't go by experience points. It goes by how many higher level people that you beat. The people that I have had to beat to get to level 45 are professional level gamers that do it for a living and get paid. MLG tournament players. SERIOUS competition. That my friends takes SKILL. So who are you going to believe when asking real questions about golf? Tiger Woods or Pro Shop Joe? Yep, that's what I thought.....
You do realize that I am taking up for both systems don't you?
Just don't be surprised when Sony comes out with HOME and everyone loves it...

Hey kudos on all your excellent accomplishments, that gamerscore is really impressive! As well, the level 45 Halo player is nothing to slouch at. Way to go!

It's apparent you've not spent much/any time in the video game forum here. As the braggart tone you take would ensure you end up on a lot of ignore lists around here. We welcome you as a gamer but please leave your soapbox in another forum.

I come on here to talk about deals on Blu-ray and HD-DVD disks & high end Home theater setups. If I want to talk about video games, I can go where I am respected and straight to the gaming companies. Enjoy your little gaming forum.....

Wow.

All I know is from my own personal experience.

True, 95% of the reason I bought a ps3 was for blu-ray, however I appreciate a good gaming system as well.

I have had the 360 for over a year and even bought a second one for another room.

I don't think it's a stretch to say that "Live" is way easier to use and get around in than my experiences in the last 3 days with the ps3's on-line "service".

Furthermore, I find it idiotic that when I'm watching a blu-ray movie downloads stop completely.

Bottom line is that if the ps3 wants to compete with the 360, they have a whole lot of catching up to do and that's not just in sales.

I'd say most media also agrees that the XBox 360 currently has a better lineup of games; your opinion might feel that it's close or equal, but the general public opinion doesn't really match that.

Anyway, regarding the topic on hand, I know i posted previously that the 80GB was discontinued from Best Buy's system. Although some reports were saying that Sony hasn't even decided what they're replacing it with.

Maybe you should check out discoutu1337's gamer score? He has the highest score of this whole forum. He plays more games than just Halo 3.

It took me 27 games to make it to a level 18. It took her 165. Having more achievements does not mean having more skill. Level 18 in 165 games is not very impressive at all. It's even less impressive that someone with that high of a gamerscore can't even go past level 18 after playing 165 games. Anyone past level 40 earns my respect because I know what it takes to be that good. Do you know what kind of hand eye coordination it takes to be that good? Level 18 is a joke unless you just started.

It just doesn't stop with this guy. Move your Halo 3 elitist rant to a Halo thread or to the Bungie forums. The people around here don't give a shit about your Halo 3 level.
