For someone who doesn't plan on playing online, would Unreal Tournament III, Resistance: Fall of Man, Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2, and Rainbow Six Vegas still provided enough value, and would these 4 games be different enough to all be worth owning?
GRAW2 and RSV are more realistic tactical shooters, while UTIII is a more all out action shooter, while RFoM looks to be somewhere in between. CoD4 aside, would these otherwise be the best FPS games out for the PS3? I don't know about other titles like Area 51 and Timeshift. |

R6:V - Yes UT3 - No RFoM - No (I seem to be in the minority but I really do not like the single player in the game) Yeah those appear to be the best FPS games on the system, though you left off the best in the bunch: The Orange Box, unless of course you've played through it. |

Some framerate issues, overall though, still very playable.

Dude UTIII is badass!! Cut out one of the TC games.
|
UT3 is badass but he was asking about single player, which does suck. Right now Orange Box is best in the single player arena, followed by CoD4 and then R6:V, imho.

Resistance: Fall of Man, Ridge Racer 7, and my personally favorite Burnout Paradise.

I just started playing Resistance on Sunday. So far I spent about 3 hours on it, with the first 45 minutes amounting to basically me dying repeatedly, right before the first checkpoint in 'The Gauntlet'. I've now gotten more proficient and I left off at the stage where I need to escape from the conversion facility. All in all, it's awesome so far. Can't wait to pick up the controls later on in the week when I have more time. Looking forward to starting up GRAW 2 and R6:V later on.

Now, to the topic. THANKS A BILLION to everyone, I will probably get COD4, looks to be universally praised, and will have some high replay value for me. |

I completely disagree... It might be the best multiplayer, but it is also a very solid and enjoyable single player game as well. |
What would you guys recommend in terms of racing games (aside from Burnout Paradise). Would Ridge Racer 7 and Motorstorm balance one another nicely?
|
The only time Warhawk has left my PS3 is when I borrowed Assassins Creed...
Warhawk is da bomb! |
You can play Warhawk with other people on the same console, but there are no bot matches, so you cannot play single player. period.

Is the game really challenging overall? Maybe I was trying to run and gun too much and should have been taking it slow? |

I just bought the PS3 as well mainly for movies. But Heavenly Sword looked good and so did Drakes Fortune. Are they worth getting?
|
They're both a bit on the short side (10 hours or less), but if you don't mind that (I play my games over the course of several weeks/months, not all at once) than Uncharted: Drake's Fortune is more than worth it's cost. Very cinematic, like playing a really good movie. One of the best games of '07.
I don't like Heavenly Sword, very repetative, though visually striking, game. It just isn't fun, imo. |
Anyone ever tried Full Auto 2: Battlelines? Wondering if it's worth the sub-$20 cost.
