I jumped into an online game this weekend and everyone was in a police car except for me, and they all started chasing me around. Is the police car an unlockable?

Re: Burnout Paradise

you get the police car by beating the burning route for whatever the regular car is. (can't think of the name right now)

No, it's one that you have to take down. According to gamefaqs, it shows up once you've won 98 events.

Re: Burnout Paradise

So it shows up after 98 events and you take it down and you can use it?

Re: Burnout Paradise

oh right. It's been a while since I've earned it. so like every other car, you take it down to own it. When you do the burning route for the police car, you get the alternate version.

Just wanted to note you get a number of cars free without having to take them down, but most of them you have to take down.

n00b question: Is there a way to turn off the webpage that loads every time I start the game and it logs on to the network? I can't find any settings for it. I'm playing the PS3 version, if that makes a difference.

No I tried and asked on another board.

I too just got this game. Very fun and have no clue what to do. The difficulty is up there too. To win you definitely need to earn it. Loving the open box nature of it! 360 version here!

Burnout Paradise Toy Pack is now available. 1000 points for all 8 cars plus a motorcycle.

I might wait to see how the cars look from someone else online before purchasing.

Raul3 03-05-09 01:14 PM

Re: Burnout Paradise

Yeah, I'm curious about them too.

I may end up buying one, just to check.

So the cars are just bubbly cartoony versions of cars already available? Are they miniature in size on screen?

Sounds stupid as shit so far.

I don't know if I can argue that. I bought the $12.99 add on and I really can't argue its worth it, but I do like the way they handle. They are tinier versions with more RC car like handling and turning. They also fly much higher and further. I keep buying this DLC even though I think its way overpriced, but I have to admit I have had fun with the Legendary pack and I can see myself enjoying the toys as well.

So if you're playing online, can you have a mix of regular cars and toy cars? Cause that would be insane...

Thats too expensive than if theyre just kid versions of cars. Maybe $5 max for the pack. Im not getting this crap. I will get the Legendary Cars though!

Its a blast to play this way. Granted marked man is no fun when you are in the toy and they are not, but all the other challenges are great.

Got all the trophies for the toys, but the bad news is if you want the trophy for the Nighthawk you may have to back up your save and start a new game. I had to. Hopefully Criterion patches that at some point.

Another week and the same thoughts on the DLC. I love it but damn is it overpriced. $7.99 for 2 cars? Granted I'm enjoying both cars, but they have to be kidding with the pricing. The Hawker is my favorite car in the game so getting one with all 3 boost modes is cool even if the weird neon look of the car is anything but cool. The extreme hot rod is also fun to drive with its locked on boost.

I've continued to buy the DLC because I love the game, but they had better make up for these overprice cars with an affordable Big Surf Island add on.

At this rate, I wouldn't be surprised if Big Surf Island showed up at $20. The extra cars are ridiculously overpriced, so any other "premium" DLC will likely be overpriced as well. Too bad, I was looking forward to the DLC keeping this game interesting.

If I get 1 toy car (other than the bike) which would you say is the best?

Re: Burnout Paradise

Well, these cars are not really needed to enjoy or "finish" the game. They are true DLC. Some luxuries that you can pay if you want to. And it's not like the game was released last month and they are releasing DLC now.

Oh and I still need to unlock a lot of cars from the game!

Re: Burnout Paradise

Haven't played this in a while and have a quick question.

This new page that shows you news and stats and cars you can buy at the beginning and then you have to move the mouse-like cursor over to "return to game screen" from where you actually tell the game that you came to play the game... is there a way to default to the game screen?

The old way where they had the news and stuff while the game loaded was fine, but this is just ridiculous.
