It was the non-greatest hits version and had the black & white Playstation writing on the left side of the cover which I guess is extremely rare. I have it on my PC now, but I haven't beaten the game since it came out on PSX, and then a second time shortly after that (also on the PSX).

I played through it once completely when it came out (probably finished in late 1998), but I don't think I'd ever go and replay it, especially since i have 3 other FFs on my shelf I haven't even started (3,5,6)

I just started replaying, I'm about three hours in now...

On the big TV it looked soo horrible, you guys weren't kidding... but then I bought a small TV for retro gaming, and the game looks awesome. It is really flattering to the graphics, the colors and the art of it.

Strangely though the graphics aren't the downside at all, but the translation. It's surprising they didn't hire an editor to re-interpret some of the dialogue for the US, it's not unplayable but sometimes confusing.

These classic RPGs will go down as almost silent films into the future, very charming and the stories told almost entirely with music, I can only imagine where the PS3 / PS4 games will take us.
