Gamefly question.
Let me start by saying PLEASE FORGIVE ME, I am not trying to start a gamefly vs. every other online rental place type thread here.....really I'm not.
I have been a member of gameznflix for a very long time now, and in the beginning they were very prompt with thier game delivery's, but in the last 6 months or so, I have only received a hand full of games and I have a TON in my Que. I really want to stay with gameznflix cause its only like 17 or 18 bucks a month to have 3 titles out, only problem is I have NO titles out and have'nt for a while now. I will occasionally get a really old title sent to me from my Que, but if its a game thats been released in the last 6-8 months forget-about-it (long wait, very long wait)
Here is my question: Even though gamefly is quite a bit more $$ I still figure if I actually GET a game in the mail, I will be doing better than gameznflix and therefore the extra $$ will be worth it. How long does it take to get a NEW RELEASE from gamefly? (and I don't mean delivery time) I mean how long after you put the the game in the Que,(and if its a VERY NEW game) does it actually ship to you? Thanks.

I haven't been as lucky as PixyJunket but I've been able to get a few titles on release day. The biggest problem is trying to time things to get back to them on time to get the new release, but not so far ahead of time that you get something else. In general though I'm almost about to run into the problem you have wrt waiting for something. I have 50 titles in my Q (the max allowed btw in case you didn't know) and of those only 10 are available now (earlier this week it was just 3 though). Granted I could probably do a better job of limiting what I put in my queue to increase the number of available titles (right now I have about 20 titles that are future releases w/ or w/o an actual release date) but there's enough available right now that I stay busy. I've only been back w/ them a few months now but so far I've been able to avg 6-8 games out a month on the 2 out plan (this is doing the one game at home/one game in transit method).

Although Nemein does not seem to have the same glowing review that Pixy has, all in all it seems to me that gamefly more or less has thier poo together.
I actually used to be a member of gamefly quite a few years ago, but then gameznflix popped up and my skin flint of a self seen the huge price difference I jumped ship. Now I think I will come crawling back to gamefly and beg them to forgive me
I will probally just go to the one game plan because of the $$ (remember i am cheap) its gonna suck going from a 3 game plan to a 1 game plan, but since I appear to be on a NO game plan right now, I suppose a 1 game plan in actually a step up
Heres the thing too, let me give you an example of just a few of the games in my Q that are supposedly either LONG waits or VERY long waits.
Wii
mario party 8
brunswick pro bowling
Carnival games
Pool party
pinball hall of fame
M&M's Kart racing
AMF bowling Pinbusters
Resident evil: umbrella
Xbox 360
world series of poker 2008
nhl 2k8
nhl 08
winning eleven pro evolution soccer
ncaa football 08
two worlds
medal of honor airbourne
pgr4
nba 08
nba live 08
orange box
simpsons
turok
gears of war
rock band
collage hoops 2k8
soldier of fortune payback
I own an xbox 360, a wii, a psp, and a DS (not that gameznflix supports DS) but just so you know this list is just a small portion of my Q and they are going to tell me that ALL these games are in such high demand? This is why I am so irritated.
Plus I really want to try that new nfl street type game (nfl tour) real bad and I know if I wait for gameznflix I will be playing halo 4 before nfl tour

I just cancelled Gamefly last month. $15 for one game and a 7+ day turnaround is unacceptable.
Another huge gripe is that on multiple occasions I decided to keep a game. As soon as that order goes through my next game should be queued up ready to ship... or so one would think. No, every time I kept a game it would take 3-4 days before my next one even showed up as "shipped" status, then you add another 3-4 days for it to arrive. Argh. It was frustrating.

I signed up for Gamefly Sunday night. I was surprised to receive an email on Monday telling me my game had shipped. It's Thursday and I still don't have it.
I guess Netflix has spoiled me, but how many days does it take? Gameznflix was getting games to me faster (when/if they actually shipped anything).

Netflix spoiled me too. That is one of the big reasons why I am SO DISAPOINTED with gameznflix. I am going to go to gamefly VERY soon myself, heres hoping things change for the better

I had gamefly for 3 months and it was a WASTE of money for me.
1- No games in my Queue were ever in stock
2- The only 2 games I ever had shipped to me were lost in return shipping. So it delayed the shipping time even more.
3- Turnaround time was way too long, especially being on the one a month plan.
They were terrible to deal with and a total waste of money. But I was also comparing them to Netflix which is glorious to work with.

Yeah, Netflix is amazing compared to all the other rental services out there.

Well it's been 5 days and still no game.
Screw this, Gamefly is no better than Gameznflix. I guess I paid for the first month so I'll just make sure I cancel before my next billing cycle.

. I wonder when it will ship to me from Tampa as well, because it took 4 days to get it so I know it could not have come from Tampa.

Yeah, I think they're filling their Tampa location through returns -- ie, you get it from City of Industry, return it to Tampa and they're keeping x amount. I'm sure in due time they'll start shipping from there - can't wait!
