It is all about software support. Something like the Guncon needs other companies to develop games for it (which seemed to happen more with the Guncon 1 than the PS2 version). The problem from the publisher's perspective is that you're selling to a niche audience... the ones that already bought the unique controller in question. So do you always have a bundle option, in order to not alienate new prospective buyers? Who's going to stock the oversized boxes?
I'm actually a little surprised that there weren't more games that take advantage of Eyetoy support or the Xbox camera... those are first party peripherals, and you could do some nice stuff like Rainbow 6's face mapping (and the Eyetoy was supported in Karaoke Revolution for a similar feature), but to this day, that's the only game I can remember that used that feature at all. I'm hoping the PS Eye fares a little better.

Uh... what?
So you want to sit still and play but then you can't help but get off the couch and enjoy yourself? It sounds like you're repressing fun.

The wiimote is not exactly a relaxing controller for anally-precision-required controls. My arms hurt from playing Link's crossbow (the damn targets, i did use the Zapper). Also, a bit sore from Mario Galaxy (don't get me wrong, the game is a 9.9/10 in my book), the 1st Speedy Comet challenge... I tend to believe that mini-games are best for the wiimote, i.e. you get to "rest" in between games. For games like Zelda and MP3C, the wiimote can be taxing (comparing to the traditional controllers) over time.
I just realized that the shooting games with the wiimote, you're not really shooting the spot you're pointing at. I got one of those 3rd party "shell gun" with a laser pointer, the actual spot you're aiming is waaaay off where the on screen cross hair is at. Of course, that doesn't ruin the game play experience at all (you don't really feel it when the cross hair is on). However, it won't work if you turn the cross hair off (i doubt you could do that).

I just hooked up Time Crisis 4 and i have to say, i'm pretty satisfied about the gun and simple shot them ups (not to be confused with traditional 2d platformer-shoot-them-ups). Of course, only if they make a better gun (i.e. more comfy for left handers too) and with force feedbacks...

Do you think there will be a type of FPS game to come out in the future that will have its own kind of controller that will do better to bring console FPS and Computer FPS games together? Not saying an actual keyboard and mouse but something similar that everyone would use?
As for unique controllers in the future, I think we will see more after the success of the Wii, Rock Band (I think it's probably successful just not in number of units because of the price), Guitar Hero, and if Wii Fit hits big.

ah, forgot about WiiFit... i'm all for it...
The only problem i got is storing those "controllers" after playing; i don't even have Guitar Heroes and Rock Bands (not into those things)...
