Eye of Judgment Issues

I just obtained the game from Amazon. I played in the living room filled with lamps and it worked fabulous. However, once I transported the Playstation 3 to my bedroom with a very bright ceiling fan light, I've been having trouble getting the cards to read. Does anyone know of the ideal lighting situation or ways to adjust it so the cards can be read easily?

maybe there's just too much glare on the cards from the light right overhead? The lamps offered more diffused light likely, and the overhead is beating right onto the cards. Can you dim that light? Or not have the cards directly under the light?

Naturally, I don't have a dimmer, but the lights are really not that strong and placing them on the floor allows the light to be rather dim. What's weird, sorta, is that the profile mode reads just about all the cards just fine.
