Am I the only one who basically feels like giving up due to flashburn? I had a chance for about 3 days, but now he's lapping everyone by a few thousand points.

you too can catch up to him by playing Cars, TMNT, and King Kong. Too bad I beat those already.

I could, but I don't want to waste my gaming time playing shitty games.

Haha, yeah, I waited on playing some of those easier ones that I actually wanted to play (and some I didn't really want to) for an achievement contest. I actually think Cars is somewhat decent (except for the minigames) and I wanted to play TMNT and King Kong. I do have a few coming that I am not too terribly interested in and probably won't 1000/1000 them but I definitely am not renting any games I don't want to play just for the sake of achievements, yet!

I am getting that Cabela's Alaskan Adventure game or whatever it is called soon, which I am mildly interested in at least trying, but I don't know if the achievements are easy or not.

I was actually surprised at how difficult Cars is for supposing to be a kids game. Some of those Nascar races are actually pretty damn tough.

Alaskan Adventure was fairly lame. The African Safari one was actually a pretty decent little game for what it was.

Good to know. I had both on my queue. Both Alaskan Adventure and Fantastic Four were further down in my queue, but they decided to send them both to me instead of ones I would've much rather played.

You need a thousand a week at least to have a chance in these, I was in a one week contest where I needed almost 6K to win (w/out Kong, Avatar, TMNT, Cars or Open Season). I can kind of see feeling let down to be so far behind, but if you're only putting up a hundred points a day, did you ever honestly expect to win?

Seeing as I was expecting a group who didn't game 24/7 like I bet some of the contests end up with, I thought it might have been a little closer than it's turning out to be

Nothing that I am playing is giving high value achievements. But I am having fun finishing games and playing ones I purchased ages ago and never opened. I'm also comparing games with some of the other contestants and trying to get some of the achievements that you guys have earned.

I'm happy with 2nd...but theres still 16 days...

That's what I thought.

Same here. The contest was a good excuse to at least pop in a game or two that's been sitting on the shelf even if I didn't finish it.

With the failure rate of the 360's, there is a pretty high chance that I will get the RROD, especially with the amount of time I am spending on it.

In fairness, Flashburn's total wouldn't put him close to first place in most contests. If you want more laid back, casual gamer type contests, they're out there, just with no prize other than bragging rights. If Avatar were the difference between winning and losing on the last night, it would be interesting to see who would break it out (of those who haven't done so prior to the contest).

I'm not saying that he is gaming 24/7 - just making the statement that I expected it to be a lot closer than it's turning out to be

That would be pretty lame if anyone in this contest tries to do Avatar at the last second, since it seems like we agreed on that being the single game that shouldn't be allowed. Regardless, I am going to try my damnest to make sure I have over a 2000 point lead during the last day of the contest.

I was just in a one week contests, with only me and one other in close contention. It was a more relaxed deal, no one cared about sports games or whatever, except we all agreed no Avatar. On the last day I was 400 or so ahead, he busts out Avatar to take the lead.

Was he someone you knew?

Man, if anyone deserves to be gripped by the dreaded Red Rings of Death, it'd be him!

An unexpected side effect of finishing GUN. They loaded the end of that game, you can't complete the 5 final sidequests (worth 40 points each) until right before the last mission, and the last mission is worth like 200 points (between the "beating the last mission" "beating the game" and "unlocking all the weapons" achievements).

I don't think you'll see an increase like that from me again in a long time.

I didn't know him, but someone else in the contest did. I was able to see his live score update and noticed the 1K jump in less than an hour, so I knew what was up. I broke out the Avatar killer, NBA 2K6, and held on for the win.
