Wii Cooling systems -- good or bad...

Hey all,

I have heard arguements both ways on this... Anyoen have some solid experience and can comment?

....So is it GOOD or BAD to have a vertical Wii stand that has a fan built into the bottom... Now, this fan would be over the air VENT (not the fan in the rear) - That being said, is it better for the cooling base to blow IN to the vent - or to suck air OUT of the vent?

I like to leave the Wii on standby as a result of Wii 24 or whatever it's called...

They sell them in town here for $5.00 - so it's a dirt-cheap addition (if it's a good move, that is)...

Thanks,

Matt!

Completely unneccessary, but neither will probably hurt anything.

I don't see why the Wii would really need a cooling system.

Agreed, completely unnecessary. In fact, if your system overheats like that, it's defective. Take it back.

Cooling systems for any console are foolish. Since the 360 got hot all these companies that make crap products are making them for all consoles. I'm sure Nyko's "engineers" know more about heating and cooling issues than Nintendo, Sony and Microsoft.

I got the Wii on release day and have had it in the vertical stand since. It doesn't get hot enough to justify a cooling fan. I even have the classic NES vinyl skin on the Wii, and have never experienced heating issues.

The Wii used to get fairly hot if you had WiiConnect24 & Standby on. But in one of the recent patches they did something to improve that (I think the fan comes on periodically, but I can't confirm).
