Anyway - did anyone win any goodies during the Live Fire Weekend?

It's not possible, not even on hardcore mode.

Are you stating that fact based on experience?

Yes - shoot as many RPG's or rounds into a friendly chopper as you want, you won't damage it.

Shooting at enemy choppers is a good way to boost your hit percentage if you're into that though.

You, sir, are in serious need of priority re-evaluation.

:)

Still playing single-player. I'm in the joint operation in Russia and have to say the game is slowly starting to get repetitive. I hope it changes around after this next level, if there is a next level.

Well, I'll just call it a major case of "It's the thought that counts" as that bastard was shooting at MY copter!

Man, that was too bad. The final stages of COD4 were a lot like COD2. They were also incredibly hard (in regular :(). I went back and replayed some of the first levels to make sure I wasn't being crazy and sure enough, the first levels had a ton of atmosphere. I guess Infinity Ward was on a deadline and felt they didn't need to set the mood anymore near the end. Still a lot of fun, but the campaign isn't flawless.

Yeah, I thought the last few levels lacked...something. Seemed more like a shitty 80s action movie than the kick-ass battle the first 2/3 of the game was.

FINALLY! new COD4 map pack for PS3!

lordzeppelin 04-24-08 04:34 PM

Has it been confirmed that there are double xp for the XBL folks this weekend too?

That's the exact thought I had.

"Oh great. A showdown in a warehouse / bunker level. Where have I seen this before? Oh right, on USA on Action Saturday nights from 1988 to today. No thanks."

It's funny, because those last levels fly directly in the face of both the Paul Jackson segment of the game and the fun little Mile-High postscript. I loved both of those because they basically said, "war ain't the work of one man; it'll continue when you're gone, or, in happier circumstances, after you've done the job." The missile base levels basically make you the saving grace of the world. Which puts you in the company of other saving graces, notably Chuck Norris and Steven Seagal. But there I go holding video games to the same standards I apply to movies.

the campaign mode was awesome fellas...

the new maps are really cool... on my way to the gold Uzi now...

got 80 kills 34 deaths the other night... that's a new record for me...

edstein 05-02-08 10:28 PM

80 kills? In one game? That's insane dude.

I have to be honest here. Now that this game has been out for a while, how in the hell do people (and yes, I'm talking about people with full time jobs) find the time to prestige 10 times over? I'm still trying to hit the normal 55 I'm 53 right now and only have about 2 days 19hrs in - is that bad?? I actually thought I was pretty kick-ass at this game seeing as how I usually always take 1st on mercenary team death match (usually average around 150 to 220 a game). I know playing headquaters will get you there quicker (and I'm pretty good at that one as well) but man, I'm dying over here!!!! Give me 55 already!!!

;)

WORD.

I've put 23 hours in so far and am only on like level 25 or something. Granted, I usually finish at the bottom in Team DM and Dom, but I'm typically playing against people that are level 55 and on their second or third Prestige. Frustrating, sure, but satisfying getting kills against guys that have been playing A LOT longer than I have. I figure though that by the time I even master ONE weapon (the M16) there won't be anyone left playing this game (noticed a huge drop in people playing upon release of GTA4).

Rival11 05-04-08 10:30 PM

I hear ya. Once I finally get to 55 (just hit 54 tonight - halfway to 55) I'll switch back to the M16 for the red tiger but man, it's hard as hell to go back to that gun - now that I've used so many other better ones......I think it's pretty brutal. I love the shotgun as well so after the red tiger comes the golden shotgun ;)

forsho01 05-05-08 11:32 AM

the fastest way i've found to prestige up is to beat as many of the challenges as possible. i always try to get the 150 kills for each of the guns and not worry too much about the headshots, i mean having a cool color is nice for the gun, but not that important until i prestige up to level 10. i also try to do the other challenges just cause 250 points will help me get to the top faster. besides that, i just play hq and search and destroy alot. you can rack up at 800 points a match on hq and 500 or so points on s&d depending on kills and plants.

I just feel there's more skill involved in getting a shiny gold gun than to prestige over and over.

That is what is awesome about CoD4 imo, it allows for people to pursue different goals/playstyles. I was in a match the other night doing nothing but trying to kill people with an unexploded mounted grenade.

I am a prestiger though, as soon as i hit 55 i will prestige again. (this is just my 2nd time through right now)

I'm sure my teammates don't appreciate the times I try to use a mini uzi or shotgun for headshots and my kill:death=1:4.

I have not prestiged and I have 125K in XP.

On Shipment, the small maps with all the crates. I had 110 kills one time. It was epic. It was a Headquarters match so it was 15 min long. MP5, air strikes and a lot of sucky opponents.
