I know this might be a silly question, but I need some help with a question about the PS3. I figured that this would be a good place to start as many of the people that post around here are quite intelligent about electronics. My in-laws are in town and they are from Central America. My father-in-law really likes the PS3 and he is considering buying one to take home. Now I know that the system will work fine to play games and movies but that is not where my concern is. As far as I know the PS3 hasn't actually been released in Latin America and I'm wondering about the network. One of the reasons he wants it is for the communication abilities. My mother-in-law and my wife spend some time each week on the phone and it can get expensive. If my in-laws are able to connect to the PS network then they could voice chat right through the system. This in itself would make the purchase cost effective in its first year or two. I know you could use computers for the same thing so please don't start ripping. Does anyone know of someone who has a PS3 in Latin America? If so then does it work with the network? Thanks again for your help!!!

I have a friend that has a PS3 in Mexico, and it works the same as in here, the USA. Exactly the same. He has DSL, so I guess your in-laws will need some kind of broadband too.
