Xbox360 Question

Looking at buying the holiday bundle for a christmas present. Just the plain 20gb one. Is that HD-DVD Player ready? Would he need anything extra or would it be ready right from the box? One of us is buying the system the other the player and a few dvds and games. Don't want to leave anything out. I know he'll want to use it right away.

This is the one I am looking at: Wal-Mart

The HD-DVD drive is separate from the system. I think they're selling for $129 now. The 360 will play standard DVDs though.

Other than that, it should come with everything you need.

The HD-DVD Addon is an additional $179.xx. But otherwise you should be fine w/ that model. The only issue is the non-elites apparently don't come w/ the audio-out adapter which you may need, but I'm not positive. (You'll need the module if you plan on using HDMI-out w/ a non-HDMI receiver).

You are correct. The Elites come with the adapter, but the other packages do not. It's not even an issue if you're not going to use HDMI.

I am getting the Xbox360 and his aunt is getting the HD-DVD add-on so the cost isn't an issue.

Right now he doesn't have a HD tv, just a regular. Will be getting one after the new year.

Thanks for the help guys. Looks like we will be set.

If space/connections isn't an issue, may I suggest the Toshiba A2 or A3? Sometimes you can find it for cheaper and if the 360 ever breaks, he still has a working HD DVD player.
