why are there so many shitty based-on-kids-movie games for the wii? is it licensing or something? I'm running out of stuff to play.

Disappointing reviews for Harvey Birdman. I wasn't expecting it to be as good as Phoenix Wright, but I had no idea it would be this dumbed down and short. The Phoenix Wright games usually give you 20+ hours of play compared to 5 for Harvey.
I still want this at some point for the humor of the show, but not for full retail. This sounds like one to wait for in the bargain bin. It also sounds like the Wii version has no real advantages over the PS2 or PSP versions and the wiiremote may even be the worst control scheme of the three. Looks like my money is getting saved for Endless Ocean. |
Looks like Nintendo has another hit on their hands. Wii Fit has sold over a million copies in Japan since its Dec. 1 release. It will be interesting to see how Wii Fit fares in North America. I think it's going to be a hit here as well. :)

Yea but when is it coming. They would have sould more if it had done been released in US as all those resolutions of people to lose weight.

Anyone play Vicorious Boxers?
How about Brunswick Bowling? Are they much better than the Wii Sports editions of the two sports? |

Rumor: Wii Fit into Nintendo's release schedule for May 20th? Posted Jan 10th 2008 9:45AM by JC Fletcher 1UP, like some other sites on the Internet, put an article up about Wii Fit's mega-awesome performance in Japan. It includes the requisite Photoshop suggesting that Shigeru Miyamoto is flush with wealth, of course. But their writeup of the news has a little something extra: a release date. If the information casually dropped in the post is accurate, we will be stepping onto and off of things as soon as May 20th. We're confused and frightened by the lack of any official release information regarding this game. Nintendo hasn't even announced a year for the North American release. Wii Fit is kind of the "next big thing" in expanded-audience Wii gaming, and thus we assume that they plan to, you know, sell it. We find a potential release date soothing. And why would 1UP just pull a date out of nowhere like that? The specificity lends credibility to the claim. Anyway, May seems as good a time as any! Chris |
What's this Wii Ware all about?
http://www.nintendowiifanboy.com/200...-hit-wii-ware/
Project Bang! announced to hit Wii Ware [update] Posted Jan 9th 2008 2:15PM by Candace Savino Aside from regular updates on The Young King and the Promised Land, we haven't heard much about Wii Ware titles lately. Netherlands-based developer Engine Software, however, broke the silence by announcing a new game for the service. Temporarily titled Project Bang!, we don't know much about the game, but we do know it will support motion controls and include a two-player battle mode. Engine Software is the developer that coded the DS version of Puzzle Quest, which can be a good or bad thing. Puzzle Quest is one of the most addicting games for the DS to date, but the game was very buggy. Since the company was hired by developer 1st Software to work on the game (in other words, they didn't come up with the concept for Puzzle Quest, just the coding), Engine Software was at least partly responsible for those glitches. That doesn't mean this new Wii Ware title will have the same problems, of course, but it's worth noting. Since we have no idea what kind of game Project Bang! is, we hope to see some more details emerge soon. [Update: The press release states that Wii Ware is scheduled to launch in March 2008. We haven't heard anything tangible from Nintendo yet as far as a launch date for the service in the US, so is this a possible slip up on Engine Software's part, or are they referring to the Japanese launch? Probably the latter, but we'll keep you updated as we hear more.] |
I got an email from N promoting Endless Ocean.... whats the point of this game? Just to swim around, or is there a mission?
|
I got the same email. Sharp looking promo. Cover art looks nice too. It's a non-game. You swim around discovering new fish and photographing them. From what I gather, every one you find you can add to a virtual aquarium that you can just let run on your TV. It supports custom soundtracks and co-op diving.
I think it look like a great way to relax and wind down a night of gaming. |
Edge gave it a 7 (high for Edge) and liked it quite a lot. Apparently it includes "co-op" swimming online, although I think they said it's an unlockable. Some of the cool features being unlockables was their main complaint about the game.
|
goddammit. I'm an aquarium nut, so I'll be checking endless ocean out. I even fell for Aquatopia on the ps3. I want my $2 back from that one though.

I wanted a game that gives you a bit of a "shadow boxing" workout. VB does it well. What many folks don't realize (took me a long time to find out) is that WS Boxing is NOT configured to respond to real boxing movements (different punches, etc.). Instead, the controls are based on GESTURES of the wiimote/nunchuk. For example, to get different punches you have to tilt the wiimote to the left, flipit forward, etc. OTOH, punches in VB basically follow the boxing movements. A roundhouse or uppercut swing will give the corresponding punch on-screen. Some 'special' punches require holding a button while swinging a certain way, but overall it is more of a 'shadow boxing' experience than WS Boxing. The anime style is cool (although character details while fighting are not as clear as in WS Boxing). What I REALLY want is a 2-player split screen boxing game (Punch-Out style) which accurately follows your fist movements. Nothing too fancy, but realistic punching control is key. P.S. I'll DEFINITELY be picking up Endless Ocean when it's released. Lots of clips out there, and it looks like a very cool, mellow scuba experience. |

On a side note, have ANY of you San Antonio people found Ghost Squad at Target? Ive gone to several and its pissing me off that I drive and waste all this time just to spend a minute in Target to see they have nothing. So if any of you find it, hook a sucka up! |
What is Ghost Squad? I see everyone going nuts over it on CAG. What's the deal?

It's a decent game, as lightgun games go... really really short, but that makes it easier to play through, with branching paths that get unlocked as you play more and more, unlimited continues, and a budget price (retails for 30 bucks) even without the Target deal. I like it better than Umbrella chronicles, even though it's not as "deep." |
Thanks DrMoze for the tips. I'll skip bowling and grab VB :)
I got Geo Wars Galaxies last night. At first I was like "meh" but then started hitting some cool levels and started really liking it! I had a tough time stopping and going to bed last night. I didn't even bother with the wiimote controls though - I went straight to the classic controller. |
