Did you get something else with it for the extra $30 because I don't think BB has sold it for $380 ever. |
I think I ate too much turkey and it's caused some brain damage. My bad, for some reason I forgot taxes in my purchase. :( dumba$$

Occasionally, so far I haven't been able to detect a pattern to it, I'll get the "select a memory device" screen during the middle of a game. It's not too frequent and at first it was only happening w/ Halo3, but now it's happened w/ another game as well. Anyone seen this behavior before and know what may be causing it? It will also occasionally freeze when I do a shutdown from the controller. Not to mention the thing is noisy as hell, but people have mentioned that so that was expected. Did I get a defective unit?
Along w/ the above I now have the problem of the attached HD drive not showing up about 1/2 the time on start up. I'm trying to arrange for a replacement now :( One question though, what's the best way (or is there even a way) to xfer my saved games from the current machine to the new one? I'd prefer not to just swap the HDs (if someone was thinking along those lines) in case it is the HD that is the part of the problem. I see there are 512M and 64M memory cards available, are those the only sizes? I don't suppose there's any place that rents them is there? Can a regular USB drive be plugged in (even if it requires formatting through the system)? How about if I put both of them on a network is it possible to do a direct xfer? TIA |
Just picked up a 360 Pro w/ the free controller and GHII for $60 at circuit city this morning. Now the hard part... waiting for Christmas!!

Thinking of pulling the trigger on a 42" Panasonic Plasma PX77. Was wondering if anyone has this same TV and plays 360. Wondering what the quality is like and if the burn in or image retention is bad.
Edit: I usually play 2-3 hours of 360 per evening, sometimes more on the weekend. |

From what I read, the 75U has a VERY slightly better picture, and unless you are in a really bright room with tons of sunlight or lighting, you aren't going to notice any reflections on the 75U. Plus the 75U is generally a bit cheaper. |
Finally jumped on a 360 last night. Got the "value pack" which is basically a premium, bundled with Forza and Viva Pinata. Main thing missing is HDMI, but as far as I can tell, only the Elite has HDMI in Japan atm, and that thing is way overpriced.
Further on the negatives, no headset out of the box, huh? Also, and this is weird, the controller with the console has these dodgey battery contacts, so it keeps losing power and disconnecting. I'm gonna buy another controller today and try and get that one replaced. Apart from that, everything was pretty much a breeze. Connected to live, purchased some points, played some live arcade (when the controller could manage to stay connected). Also, very happy to note that both the pack in games are automatically switched into English, rather than only having Japanese language option. I didn't really want to be trying to optimise cars in Forza in Japanese! Anyway, my Live ID is "Mr GT Chris". |

I'm almost tempted to rebuy Rainbow Six. I got it for Christmas last year, beat it, then sold it for $40 earlier this year. I'm tempted but I have so many games I've yet to play.
|
I went ahead and ordered Rainbow Six. The reviews were too bood to pass it up.
And for those that are always looking for deals on Microsoft Points, CompUSA has the 4000 point card on a "manager's special" of $42.98. |

From what I've read and experienced (I have a 42PX60U Panny plasma), new plasmas from quality companies (Panasonic is right up there, not quite Pioneer, but probably one of the better plasma makers) are pretty hard to get burn in on. Just be smart about it - if the game you are playing has a static image that never leaves the screen, even when pausing or going between menus and the game (not many are like this, in my experience, but Madden was this year), just switch input sources once in a while.

I ordered Rainbow Six: Vegas (Limited Edition) for $19.99 and 300 (2 Discs) $6.99 for $25.98 shipped. Very good deal :)

Not sure why it's LE, it probably translates more to an SE.
From the amazon product info page: * Mockumentary In the same vein the popular television show The Office, we will have a mockumentary built around in office interviews of fictional developers for Rainbow Six Vegas. * Rainbow Six Retrospective Using footage from past RS titles, we will produce a 5-8 minute feature showcasing the evolution of the series. * Making Of Include a single polished movie around the making of the game. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000KA9EPC I ordered it too, along with the ESA game pack. |
Similar to Myspace/Facebook, the Dec. 4th fall update will include the ability to view the friend's lists of others. There are privacy settings as well. Read more here: http://www.videogametalk.com/news.php
