Hey guys, I need some quick help. I just upgraded to a 360 Elite and sold my old 360 Premium. I registered the system through the 360 website when I first got it. Is there any way to un-register that now or transfer it to the new owner? Any answers or feedback would be great. Thanks in advance.

So I got Carcassonne with no issues, but how do you get the 500 points?

When my lauch 360 died I bought a new premium and sold the repaired system. I called to ask about transferring the remaining warranty over to the new owner. I was told that it's not necessary to do anything, the warranty is tied to the system, not the owner. They told me if the new owner has problems, they should call and give the serial number. At that point they will update the owner information.

Disclaimer: English wasn't this person's first language. I *think* we were on the same page by the end of the call, but it took a bit of back and forth to explain my question.

Great, thanks!

Well... maybe not.

In the two years I've had the system it's never frozen up. Ever. Yesterday I tried playing the America's Army multiplayer demo. The first time froze the system after about a minute's worth of gameplay. Reboot, went right back into the game and tried again, and again, it froze up after one minute. Rebooted again, got the three flashing red rings.

Waited five minutes, turned it back on, and played the Arcade for an hour with no issues. So, I dunno what the problem was...

This doesn't make a lick of sense. All they're doing is offering games that are ALREADY backwards compatible on the 360 as digital downloads. If they offer up a digital download of a game that's original disc is not playable (or they remove something from the BC list that's available to download), you'd have room for argument. But considering that the games that are not yet on the BC list are generally low on the popularity scale, I can't see any of them being lucrative enough to be picked for digital distribution. I expect BC updates to remain, if not continue to slow down as the list of worthy items to add dwindles. The download service seems more like a means to get these games to people that don't want to (or can't) deal with getting physical copies.

What Pixie said.

Which games, from the old Xbox, people is still waiting to be BC?

I'm personally waiting for Sudeki along with both Otogis.

Spiderbite 11-15-07 12:17 PM

Quick quote from Microsoft's Albert Penello (which was in the recent OXM #78):

The number of people who are interested [in backward-compatibility] versus the number of people who play are very different.
I believe this to be true. I think more people talk about BC as a buzzword more than those who actually use it.

Michael Corvin 11-15-07 12:32 PM

Riddick was a high want until they announced the remake which will suffice at a reasonable price.

I still want Top Spin support. I think a couple of the Prince of Persia games are still MIA. The list is small, but there are still a few out there worth playing.

DVDChris 11-15-07 12:32 PM

I'd like to play X-men Legends 1 & 2 on my 360.

There's a form to fill out that has the old serial number and new serial number. I wanted to swap my warranty because I paid for the two year "all is covered" version. I'd check the xbox website.

So anyone know anything about how to get the points?

We're giving every Xbox LIVE member who has been with us for all five years a gift of 500 MS Points and other exclusive content. Check your email for details, and thanks for being on Xbox LIVE!

Michael Corvin 11-15-07 02:13 PM

I think I joined in '03. :(

Noonan 11-15-07 02:21 PM

I haven't received any email about the free points and I beta tested Live before it went on sale.

Spiderbite 11-15-07 02:28 PM

I joined Live in 2002 but I doubt I will be getting any points since I let my account lapse between my time of dumping my Xbox and just recently getting my 360.

Does anyone know if this is also applicable for the extended warranty you can buy?

I sold my 360 in June, and I haven't had a chance to have the extended warranty transferred into the new owner's name. The new owner has since had to get the unit swapped due to RROD. I'm wondering if I even need to go through the trouble of finding the extended warranty paperwork or not.

I think they use the email account that linked to your Xbox live account to send a registration email. I just received mine a couple of minutes ago.

lordwow 11-15-07 07:24 PM

The only games I still play on my XBox1 (which is at my gf's apartment) are:
- XMen Legends 1 + 2
- MVP Baseball 2005
- ESPN NFL 2k5

I could see the X-Men games possibly getting a BC update, but certainly not the latter two.

I got my e-mail a little bit ago for it. Already registered and now we'll see how long it takes to get the points.
