Can't say if I'll be on tomorrow night but I'd like to see if some of us that played coop last weekend could try and pickup where we left off. That is if the blasted LAG doesn't force us off like it did.

for the single player campaign...

is Halo 3 a good pick up and play game and easy to learn if you are not a skilled FPS gamer?

Re: ONLY Halo 3 thread - part deux.

Sure. There are 4 difficulty settings so I'd start with Normal and if you are having trouble drop it down to easy. Easy is labled, in the game itself, as "game practically plays itself."

and the controls are easy to get into even if you have never played a FPS before? thanks again MC.

The controls are so easy a caveman could play it.

You should start with the first one then, it's the best in the series.

1 and 2 are both really good. I'd actually consider them better than Halo 3.

teabag

i think i am gonna look for 1 & 3 cheap and see how it goes.

just don't want to be too overwhelmed having never really played FPS but want a couple at least.

but read one review somewhere for Halo 3 that said it was perfect for a non-gamer and that he loved to get into it without having to get frustrated by story and controls.

do i need the game manual? i am thinking of just getting 1 from XBLA and wondering if there is an in-game tutorial that will show me the controls or if the manual is real helpful that i should go for a hard copy...

The answer to this is always no. I can't think of a single game that actually needs the manual.

But in regards to Halo, yes, it teaches you the controls in-game. Also, buying it straight from XBL is hella more expensive than finding a used disc.

it's actually 1200 points which is what $15.00. i am trying to score a mint copy for less than that, but they all seem to come in and around that on bay and do want a like new one.

does rapid fire action (if i were to get the modded controller, which i need another controller anyway) help in Halo 1?

The modded rapid fire controllers are aimed at giving competitive folks an advantage in multiplayer stuff. Honestly, jumping into it now you will have a bit of practice to make it to the point where a modded controller will make any difference. It wouldn't be worth the extra 40$ you typically pay for the modded bit.

Single player will be fine with the standard 50-60$ controller.

got it. thanks. thought it would be even an extra advantage with a newbie single player at first.
