Re: Saints Row 2

Is there any way to tell if my game is "infected" with cheats (meaning I can't get achievements, even though I'm not cheating)? Was messing around on co-op, not doing missions, and I entered a couple cheats, and since I'm just starting the game I wanted to make sure I'm not going to miss out on achievements.

Re: Saints Row 2

ok, still playing this game, almost done with it but keep getting side-tracked by customization - just found out you can trick the hell out of any vehicle you want - how friggin' cool is that?

This has to be the most satisfying game I've played in a very long time. How would I rate it over GTA IV? Defiintely going to say I like it a lot more gameplay and fun wise, it really is better at both. Right now, the only thing GTA IV has over this game is the graphics. Most of you think that it also wins in the detail department as well, I did too but think again; I have heard and seen just as much detail in SR2 as I did in GTA IV, in fact, the citizens are more animated and the noise of thunder is fantastic (to name a few).

Of course there are things I don't like (i.e. vehicles dissapearing when you turn away) but I have to be honest here...I love the game man!!! The cutscenes are excellent and very well polished and I also love how if you change clothes, they will show up if you re-watch the cutscenes - very cool.

I just really got into this game and it has delivered big time - can't wait for the third one.

(also, anyone ever just run into a gas pump? I can't get enough of it ;-)

Re: Saints Row 2

I like skydiving naked.

I like being able to cut people with a sword while on a motorcycle.

I like being able to drink and drive, and actually be able to drive.

I like tasing people.

I like being able to bring people back to life with shock paddles.

I like being able to change my look and clothes and then re-watch the cutscenes.

I like getting tattoos.

I like rewards like unlimited sprinting, no fall damage, unlimited hand gun ammo.

I like using a chainsaw and the subsequent animation.

I like being on Fuzz and then having characters comment on seeing me on the show.

I like when I walk down the street and people say "Holy shit, you're a f***ing legend"

I like playing as a girl, and beating the shit of 4 guys in a prison fight club.

-

If I could add anything to this game. I would like to be able to go up to anyone and make out with them. There's so much violence in this game I wish there was a tad bit of sex.

Re: Saints Row 2

Just out of curiosity...anyone ever find the alternate ending? I am going to play it tonight. Also, there is an alternative intro to game as well.

I will put spoiler tags for both and don't worry...I won't give up who appears in the alternative ending....just where to find it.

Spoiler:
the alternative ending is in the police station, (in saints row, check the map at the saints row2 website if you don't know where saints row is).

You can access the alternative intro by just letting the game sit at the main menu screen.

Also - the cheats for this game are ridiculous.

Re: Saints Row 2

Never heard of an alternative ending. There is a bonus mission that involves a certain someone from the first game that part of it takes place in a police station.

^^ Me either. That's gotta be what he's referring to.

For what it's worth, the d/l content sucked. I was very disappointed in how few missions there were. I could care less about changing my outfit -- I wanted better missions.

More DLC out now - requires you to complete the police station mission before you start.

Re: Saints Row 2

be careful with the DLC if you have not finished the core missions base game -- specifically

Spoiler:
the ultor epilogue

i had two missions left when i purchased the 1st DLC pack - the DLC missions show up with an ultor icon and you can choose them even if you have not completed the other missions. it took me two missions with tera patrick to figure out what was going on.

Spoiler:
i basically ended up digging up the bodies in the DLC and hijacking the chemical before i had destroyed the pyramid in the main game.

Re: Saints Row 2

So is the new DLC an actual mission pack or just new weapons, exotic cars, etc? I could care less about that stuff -- I want the missions.

Re: Saints Row 2

Yeah, I was referring to the bonus mission - wanted to post something about it because I didn't see anything else posted on it.

I finished the game in full (missions, not a 100%) - had a blast and never got bored with it.

The only thing that pisses me off is when you enable cheats...you can't disable them if you saved your game with them enabled - thank God one autosave slot always stays open though so I could use that one.

Will prob pick up both DLC packs soon.

Re: Saints Row 2

So I went to Best Buy today and was surprised to see Saints Row 2 Collector's Edition for $19.99 for the 360. Don't know if this is the case everywhere, but it's worth checking out. Perfect for me since I just finished GTA IV last week.

Re: Saints Row 2

Just picked this game up the other day, and I am addicted. This is so much more fun than GTA4. The driving is exactly what I want in a game like this. I have barely done any missions. I have just been driving around and doing the activities. Fight club champion!

Re: Saints Row 2

LOL... welcome to the club. I thought both Saints Row games kicked the shit out of GTA IV. It doesn't take itself too seriously and it controls like a champ.

Re: Saints Row 2

I picked it up for 5 bucks at Best Buy last Christmas with a Gamers Club coupon. Easily the best $5 game I've ever bought. I even bought all the DLC, even though what you got for the ammount they were charging wasn't really worth it, since the game was such a great deal. I 99%'ed it. Only thing keeping me from 100 was the stupid level 5 helicopter missions. I've made peace with the fact that I'll never beat those.

Saints Row 2 is the second best open world GTA-like game ever (behind Red Dead) and the 3rd game is an day one buy.

Re: Saints Row 2

This and Just Cause 2 remain in the gaming rotation for sheer mayhem-causing fun. I think I did all of three or four actual missions in SR2.

Re: Saints Row 2

Was bumping this to get some more opinions on the DLC. I just finished the main game last night and saw they had two other mission packs: Ultor Exposed for 800 points and Corporate Warfare for 560 points.

I don't care about achievement points, customizations, and stuff like that. I am more curious if the missions are worth the money and your time before I trade/sell my copy. $17 in points is a bit steep but I don't mind it too much if the missions seem worth it and are cool/fun. There was really only one or two comments above and they weren't very promising.

^^ No! And I'm a HUGE SR fan... but not worth the money IMO.

Re: Saints Row 2

Yeah, not great. Especially for what you get for the price. You'll be done with each pack in about an hour. I bought them both, but I don't feel terrible about it because I only paid 5 bucks (new) for the main game, so I got more than my money's worth there.

and it only took me 3 and a half years to start it. Only a couple hours in but I'm enjoying it. The only thing that bugs me is the same reason I stopped playing the first Saints Row. I don't like that you are forced to do side missions to gain respect to progress the main story campaign.
