No new XBLA game this week: http://gamerscoreblog.com/team/archi...28/558793.aspx

Piss off GTA! Dammit...

Michael Corvin 04-28-08 04:21 PM

I can understand not wanting to follow GTA but they could release add-ons. Would have been a good week for a pinball table. How about a new Uno deck? I'm still surprised there hasn't been a Halo deck yet. People would eat that shit up.

shumway 04-28-08 04:33 PM

Wow, Commando 3 does look like a blast.... I may have to actually go for it for the game and not for the beta access... imagine that.

Decker 04-28-08 07:23 PM

Seriously? GTA IV means no XBLA game? That's sorta stupid. They could at least given us a discount on an older game or something.

boredsilly 04-29-08 07:39 AM

I think it makes perfect sense. I wouldn't want to go up against that shit either, if I was releasing an XBLA game either.

The Bus 04-29-08 08:46 AM

This would've been a good week to release a shitty family game like Rocky & Bullwinkle or SpongeBob or Shrek 5.

lordwow 04-29-08 10:21 AM

Meh whatever, I'll be too busy playing GTA IV to notice ;)

porieux 04-29-08 04:02 PM

That's dumb, I have no interest in GTA, but may have bought an XBLA game. Oh well I will keep my money.

tonyc3742 04-29-08 05:43 PM

I can see that a large portion of the gaming community will be buying GTA...however, if MS is trying to get a larger percentage of the "family" demographic, this would have been the perfect week/marketing opportunity to offer something tamer and kid-friendly.

PixyJunket 04-30-08 08:08 AM

Ugh, stupid. I'm not one of these guys that whines about minor XBLA/PSN/VC release issues week by week (other than the prolonged absence of Dark Mist on PSN), but their reasoning for not having one this week is really dumb. The GTA player is not the XBLA player. Plus, there's what, 18 million 360s out there and they expect to move 4-5 million GTA IVs between the BOTH systems. That's a lot of 360s NOT playing GTA IV.

Groucho 04-30-08 08:12 AM

 If I were a small development house releasing a game on XBLA, I don't think I'd want it to be this week either.

Does anyone have an Uno code they'd trade for a Worms code?

Groucho 05-05-08 02:27 PM

5/7 release is a video game adaptation of the board game Wits and Wagers at 800pts.

According to Wikipedia, "The game is played in seven rounds. One trivia question is presented each round, and each player answers every trivia question. Players simultaneously place their written answer to the trivia question on the betting mat, and then bet on the answer they believe is closest to the right answer. The House pays players who choose the correct answer based on the odds marked on the board."

Sounds interesting...but not 800pts interesting.

It got a good review in OXM like 2 or 3 months ago. An 8.5 or a 9.0 IIRC. Still I agree that it might not be that deep a game and certainly would only be fun playing online against others who weren't cheating simulatniously off the internet.

Groucho 05-05-08 03:38 PM

Quite frankly, if somebody wants to go through the trouble to cheat on an XBLA trivia game, more power to them.

PixyJunket 05-05-08 03:46 PM

Can somebody Google trivia questions and call me the N-word at the same time?

Michael Corvin 05-05-08 04:00 PM

 I'm sure it's quite possible... but I doubt this game will draw on that type of crowd.

I see you haven't played Uno online.

Groucho 05-05-08 04:29 PM

At 400pts, Uno is targeted for the ghetto crowd. But at 800pts, Wits and Wagers will bring in the more sophisticated, "wine and cheese" gamer.

 You're probably right. And one thing about the rich folks, they don't like to cheat.

Well Wits and Wagers is more than just getting the answers right. If you don't know the answer but are reasonably sure you know who is the smart person then you just wager your chips on their answer.

It is a combination of a trivia game and a betting on who is smart game. Many times someone who realizes they don't know anything will do better than the person who thinks they are smart due to the fact they will know not to bet on their own answers.

I'm looking forward to Assault Heroes 2 for a couple of reasons which I may share later.
