Through XBLA (which I believe you can still enter with the free silver membership) you can download games that you can play by yourself. XBLA is the bomb.
And I'm hooking it up to my LCD. For $17 shipped (2 different auctions off eBay) I got an XBOX->VGA+RCA Audio cable and an RCA->Mini audio cable. Then all you need is a KVM switch in order to switch from computer to XBOX and viceversa. I got one on eBay for $12.40 shipped (4-port, which means you can have 3 computers running off the same keyboard and mouse and monitor, and also the XBOX).

You say that, but once you start seeing what they look like you may change your mind. You'll get spoiled.

Kameo is close, but I would consider it more action adventure (Zelda style) than action platformer, but it does have some platforming elements. I also think Kameo is a great underrated game.
I think the PS2 was the king of action platformers. The Ratchet and Clank series (4 games), Sly Cooper series (3 games), and Jak and Daxter series (3 games). I'm sure there is a lot more than that.

Save big american money paved in gold and talk to boxum women with good hips to bear the children. ME pay good money for wife for wife and she very good cook. Wife make real meat not fake meat. Wife kill the hop hop bunny and cook it up in big pot. ME say wife do good. Buy wife have many children and play with children. Just yesterday Little ME ran around and ME chase him, it be funner than racing game. Better graphics. But when I caught him and tickle him he pee his pants, that not so fun. So no tickle little You or you'll get pee everywhere.
Wife has sister. You buy for 10 goat. ME talk to parents and setup ok.
