I love the Achievement points. Not only for the points but for the achievements themselves. If I see that someone "killed 12 zombies at once" and I don't have that achievement, I'll pop them a note and say congrats and as how they did it.
I agree playing games just to pad your score is kind of sucky. Also sucky are games where the majority of the achievents are for on-line play. |
I like to go back and replay my games to get Achievement Points but I wouldn't rent/purchase/borrow a game just for the points.

I actually like the achievements. Even some of the not so stellar games, I found quite a bit of enjoyment out of them. If a game absolutely sucks, I won't force myself to play it just for the points.

I also like when the achievements have interesting or funny names, like Gears of War.
