Official Eternal Sonata Thread
Comes out this week. I think it deserves its own thread. I'm sure there will be some of us that want to trade faceplates too. Here is the IGN scores copied from the 360 thread.
Closing Comments Eternal Sonata is a great RPG to give to your kid, but it’s also put together well enough for older gamers to enjoy. If you haven’t had much experience with RPGs, Eternal Sonata would be a great way to get your feet wet. Hardcore RPG fans might find the game a bit lacking, but we found enough to enjoy in the game to keep the limited role-playing elements far enough out of mind from start to finish for the game to keep from growing stale. Oh, and it certainly does look pretty, doesn’t it? 9.0 Presentation An outrageous yet endearing tale that’s cleverly crafted with great care. 9.0 Graphics The attention to detail is evident around every corner. The vibrant art style is downright attractive. 8.5 Sound How can you complain about Chopin? The original tunes aren’t bad, either, though the voice acting could be better. 7.5 Gameplay The evolving battle system keeps the game fresh, but Eternal Sonata isn’t as deep as what many RPG fans are used to. 7.5 Lasting Appeal You’ll get your money’s worth with 20-30 hours of gameplay, but this isn’t the sort of game that you’ll play over and over again. 8.3 Impressive OVERALL (out of 10 / not an average) |
I got the faceplate I wanted! I stopped by GameStop Friday after work and asked if I could choose which one I'd get and not only did he let me choose, but he let me take it home right then. I couldn't figure out how to take the original faceplate off.. but I think I was just being too gentle with it, as I didn't want to snap/break anything.

Nice. I ordered mine online so it'll be purely random which one I get. Yeah, you pretty much just have to rip it off. There's a notch on one side of it to start it off. I use a knife or letter opener to help pry it off around the edges.
Gamespot gave it an 8.5/10 which is pretty damn good.
Mine shipped from gamestop.com today. Can't wait since I just finished off Blue Dragon today in anticipation for this.
Hrm, i keep going back and forth about buying this or Gameflying it. So many games coming out this fall i'm not sure how much time i will have.
The game looks incredibly drool worthy though. It is supposed to be significantly shorter than Blue Dragon isn't it? |

I sank 70 into Blue Dragon. :(

That's all? I saw you on last night and noticed the achievement for maxing everyone out at 99. I figured it would have taken longer to do that.

Anyway, I just went to the Poo Island where you can get about 2000-3000 experience by grouping three or so enemy parties together to finish the other three off. Even at max level, I was slaughtered by the optional bosses!

Nice. Sounds a bit like DQVIII where strategy can be more important than your level.
Three more hours and I'll be up in some hot Polka action.
I just picked it up today. Got my faceplate, too. I am 23 hours into Blue Dragon and loving it, so hopefully ES will be a good 20-30 hour ride.
Just picked it up too (got the Chopin faceplate).
I didn't know there were different faceplates. Hell, I didn't even know I got a faceplate until the manager at Gamestop handed it to me. I got a blue one with a girl on it.
My copy is getting delivered tomorrow. I'll be playing it a lot this weekend.
Well, Im still in the early stages of Blue Dragon and then have Metroid Prime 3 to play afterwards, and wondering if I should go ahead and pick this up or just wait a while.
If you're not going to play it right away I'd wait. You may be able to get it as part of some deal or for cheaper later on.
I think my faceplate is the twins on it, March and Salsa I think? I like it. The guy at Gamestop wanted to give me another one but I said give it to someone that didn't get one since I guess there are hoarders ruining it for people.
But yeah, I love the game. Alot of fun and beautiful to look at. |
