Some notes from MS about August Sales numbers:

http://biz.gamedaily.com/industry/news/?id=17422

This is interesting to me...

Xbox 360 software sales are more than PS3 and Wii software sales combined

That's not too surprising. The PS3 and Wii are both suffering from "first year software drought" syndrome. You can't very well buy PS3 and Wii software if none is available!

I'm kind of having fun with it. The crappy aiming actually makes it difficult which is quite a change from the other installments. It's certainly not a keeper but I do plan on finishing it.

Absolutely hysterical reading these comments after reading praise the series gets from David Jaffe's Blog while they bash Halo. Too rich.

IGN's Eternal Sonata review is up. I'll be picking it up the day it's in stores.

Closing Comments
Eternal Sonata is a great RPG to give to your kid, but it’s also put together well enough for older gamers to enjoy. If you haven’t had much experience with RPGs, Eternal Sonata would be a great way to get your feet wet. Hardcore RPG fans might find the game a bit lacking, but we found enough to enjoy in the game to keep the limited role-playing elements far enough out of mind from start to finish for the game to keep from growing stale.

Oh, and it certainly does look pretty, doesn’t it?

9.0 Presentation
An outrageous yet endearing tale that’s cleverly crafted with great care.
9.0 Graphics
The attention to detail is evident around every corner. The vibrant art style is downright attractive.
8.5 Sound
How can you complain about Chopin? The original tunes aren’t bad, either, though the voice acting could be better.
7.5 Gameplay
The evolving battle system keeps the game fresh, but Eternal Sonata isn’t as deep as what many RPG fans are used to.
7.5 Lasting Appeal
You’ll get your money’s worth with 20-30 hours of gameplay, but this isn’t the sort of game that you’ll play over and over again.
8.3
Impressive OVERALL
(out of 10 / not an average)

I've been on the day one Eternal Sonata wagon since I played the demo! I like that it's brisk, 60 hour RPGs are draining and usually never hold up through that entire length.

I agree. That's the main reason I haven't started Blue Dragon yet. A 30-35 hour RPG is just what I'm looking for considering all the amazing games that are coming out this fall/winter.

Spoilerized to save space:

Spoiler:
MS on August NPD: Xbox 360 Software Sales More than Wii and PS3 Combined

Redmond quite pleased with the August surge for Xbox 360

Following the thoroughly impressive August results from The NPD Group, Microsoft was the first of the big three console manufacturers to chime in on its performance for the month.

The main highlights were outlined by Microsoft as follows:

# Xbox 360 unit sales are up 63 percent, versus an 18 percent decline for PS3 and 5 percent decline for Wii month over month

# Xbox 360 outsells PS3 more than 2:1

# Xbox 360 software sales are more than PS3 and Wii software sales combined

# Madden NFL '08 on Xbox 360 outsold all other versions of the title, including the PS2 by more than 250,000 units, and PS3 by more than 560,000

# Xbox 360 held the top two titles across all next generation consoles with Madden NFL '08 (EA) at #1 and BioShock (2K Games) at #2

# Halo 3 preorders continue on a trajectory to eclipse Halo 2 preorders

Microsoft also said that since last November when the Wii and PS3 launched, gamers have spent more dollars on Xbox 360 software ($24.3 million) than on software for PS3 and Wii combined ($19.8 million).

In addition, the company proudly stated that it maintained the Xbox 360's launch price point "for longer than any other console in videogame history holding the record at 21 months." The previous record was held by PS2 at 19 months.

Great, I can't wait for this record to be a goal for next next generation

SWEET!

I'm with Pixy - after playing that demo and Blue Dragon's demo, ES took my money.

Don't forget to pre-order Eternal Sonata at GameStop, you get a free faceplate!

And if any of you get the Polka faceplate and I do not.. we need to work something out.

What the hell? Are there different faceplates handed out randomly?
