Ninja Gaiden 2
I read on gamefaqs that this game will be published by MSFT game studios. Has anyone else read this?
|
Already being discussed in the main 360 thread (as well as the TGS thread, to a lesser degree).
Probably deserves it's own thread, though. |

I watched the trailer last night -- purty graphics but not much substance to it.
|
Did you play Ninja Gaiden 1 on original xbox? It had plenty of substance!

Sorry, I just couldn't understand how you could expect any teaser to have substance. It's called a teaser for a reason. :)

Yeah, you just know there will be a Ninja Gaiden 2 Black a year or so after Ninja Gaiden 2 comes out. |
Hopefully the explosion of DLC since the first Xbox Ninja Gaiden will make stuff like Ninja Gaiden 2 Black or Ninja Gaiden 2 Frathouse Edition stuff that can be added on without buying the game all over again.
|
Everyone knew this was going to be exclusive for months...
Honestly can't think of any game I want more, except maybe Soulcalibur 4 |

I think most people, including myself, figured that it would be a timed exclusive on the Xbox360 with a PS3 port following half a year later. Most people thought that Sigma was testing the waters so to speak to see how well it would do on the PS3. I don't think anyone expected that Microsoft themselves would actually publish the title. Im incredibly excited about this. Ninja Gaiden was my favorite series on the NES and its shaping up to be one of my fav series of the new age of gaming.
With that said, i do hope there are more difficulty settings though, the original on the Xbox was hard as hell.... |
Ninja Gaiden on Xbox = Greatest game of all time.
I have been playing games for 28 years |

Ninja Gaiden on the Xbox wasn't really all that hard. It just had a very steep learning curve. Most people just random button mash these types of games, but you cannot do that in Ninja Gaiden or you will get your ass handed to you. Once you learn how to play it though, Ninja Gaiden is actually easy. Yes I said Ninja Gaiden is easy.* I honestly thought the NES games were much harder. *Normal mode is easy in my opinion, but Very Hard and Master Ninja most certainly are not.

Ninja Gaiden was the best game of last-gen hands down, but not the best game of all time. NGB is a different story, yes there was enough settings to accomodate everyone. Oh and the NES series is probably some of the hardest games ever. |

Gameplay video from TGS
 Some new things not in the first NG: - Bodies and blood do not disappear, so after every battle there are piles of bodies and blood everywhere. Blood even accumulates on Ryu's weapon and he shakes it off at the end of battle. Badass! - Two new weapons shown in the demo: a scythe and Wolverine-like claws. - A regenerating health system. Health regenerates after every battle. There also appears to be permanent damage that does not regenerate, but it is healed at a save point. I am not sure what to think of this new system. The regenerating health would seem to make the game easier, but the semi-permanent damage would also make it harder. |
I like that health system. So much of the first Ninja Gaiden was spent buying potions to keep you alive, this should help things run a little more smoothly, and the permanent damage prevents it from becoming too easy.

The block button is your best friend. Most games you never need to block at all, but Ninja Gaiden requires you to master your defensive skills or you will perish. For this boss, just keep blocking and roll/dodging and only attack when you get an opening. Roll out of the way of the wizard guy's fireball attack (it goes through your block), and then immediately counter with a combo on him. Those wizard guys do quit spawning after about 10 or 12 of them, so it may be easier to kill them all first. They always drop a blue healing orb too. If you develop your essence charge attacks, you can pwn this boss in about 10 seconds with all those blue essence orbs. Otherwise, roll out of the horse's way, then do a quick 3-hit combo on his ass as he runs by. This boss is actually low on the difficulty scale compared to the most of the other bosses. |
