On the face only? Or whole body attack?

This is not true. Anything you have going into the fight is available after continue.

Whole body. You're likely just chasing tail at that point anyway :)

pinata242 06-20-08 02:29 PM

Also, you're invincible while casting Ninpo, so use it when those things are coming. Also, you're invincible while doing an Ultimate Technique, so if you see those things coming, starting holding Y and let go right before they get to you.

Yeah, I have the Life of 1000 gods sitting there waiting, I always forget to use it though :) Thanks for the tips on ninpo taking out the fish things, wind is best I assume.

No, even if you hit continue after dying you still have them for boss fights. I've gone through a million continues in my boss fights, and I get to keep all my power ups every time when in the boss battle. This is only for boss battles, not when you are just going through the level.

Thanks for the tips, I might try it tonight...

Ok so im on 14. im at the blood pond with all the shark like creatures. Ive been trying the gatling gun but they keep eating me. i have max grains and a rebirth but i want to save them. whats the best way to beat these guys?

Mok 06-20-08 08:23 PM

Did anyone watch the free 2 part documentary available on XBL, it's pretty cool.

Tuan Jim 06-20-08 08:52 PM

With those fish on the train boss - you can also use shurikens against them and firing your charged up arrow right before they hit you will normally kill a couple or 3 -- and those dead fish will give up essence as well.

Run. When we first saw those in 9 or 10 I humiliated them with the Gatling Gun. In 14, I could not get a shot off. I just ran until I got across with only satisfactory nibbles. I think my best was a one-bite :)

House 06-23-08 01:15 PM

Ya they were so easy on 9 and 10, they didn't even touch me. I spent a few hours trying to kill them, I could only get like 7 at the most. I took the sissy way out and just ran across the water.

Now I have to fight Genshin again!? WTF. So I beat him, but then another fight right after him... omg I didn't win. I haven't played since Friday night, man is this freaking hard.

Cool - I beat that bastard last night after 3 attempts. It was funny, after he fell on the ground it took 2 hits to take off about 1/4 of his health bar :)

pinata242 06-23-08 01:22 PM

House -
Spoiler:
Get through Genshin and Elizibet and you'll get a reprieve. There's a shop and heal/save statue before you have to go into the final show-down.

And... Sissy? A true ninja knows what fights are best left unfought.

He's definitely got a soft underbelly :)

So what is the best way to deal with the rocket ninjas? I keep getting destroyed by the guys in Chapter 8, and I am playing on Normal Dif. If I try to stay back and charge arrow them I get hit while charging, or I don't get a perfect aim on them, so I end up having to fire 3+ arrows per ninja. If I try to jump/dodge to get close I get blasted at point blank range.

These guys seem pretty cheap to me. Ninjas w/ rocket launchers that fire 10 heat seeking missles? Come on. At least they can't fly too I guess.

pinata242 06-25-08 12:51 PM

Which point in Chapter 8 are we talking about there? IIRC, there are several points when you have to deal with those things.

RVP 06-25-08 01:04 PM

I just got to the first save point in 8 after a couple of tries w/ the rocket ninjas.

pinata242 06-25-08 01:15 PM

Ah, so the beginning ones. When they take up position behind their sandbags, you can retreat behind your own. Just charge up the arrow and zoom in (RB, i think) and pop them in the eye. They respawn for a while, but there's not much more to it. Do that until you have to deal with the 3 large mech things and try to draw them away from the battlefield to take them on there.

Soon...
Spoiler:
You'll go into a building with some rocket dudes on an overpass and serveral ninjas on the floor. I took the floor ninjas outside or in one of the corners just inside the building and took them out that way. The overpass you can get on with a stair case in a broken shop on the left side. Take the fight to them.

Then...
Spoiler:
You're back outside and there will be a 3-story building with many respawners. Lining up shots is doable and preferred (again, zoomed in), but you can just hop around and blind fire and let Ryu auto-aim, but you'll use many more arrows this way. Watch out for mines!

RVP 06-25-08 01:50 PM

So you can zoom in then? More than just the behind the head view? That would help, I can't seem to get accurate shots off before being knocked out of aim mode by rockets.

House 06-25-08 04:46 PM

Move most of them I just jumped up to them dodging their missiles, then kicked their ass with my claws.

Thanks alot, by using the zoom (r trigger) I was able to take cover behind pillars and corners and take them out from a distance. I finished up Chapter 8 last night, does the rest of the game have these rocket guys?

I tried the claws last night and I don't like them, maybe if I had started using them earlier I would feel different. I like the weapons with more range like the scythe and the staff.
After you finish the game you can start over with your weapons if you want right? I may play a second time with the weapons I hardly use like the claws and the Kusari-gama.

pinata242 06-26-08 12:20 PM

Chapter 8 is the most you'll see of the rocket dudes, but they're still around a bit. Oh, I take that back. The start of Chapter 9 is loaded with them too, but after about the mid-way point, they're rare the rest of the game.

Yes you can start a new game (on the same difficulty) with the weapons you had at the end of your first game. I don't remember if they stay upgraded or not.

They stay upgraded only if you load your last saved game. If you hit "New Game" then the weapons will need to be upgraded (of course, on the same difficulty).

^ Ah, yes. That's how you get on the weapon leaderboards. You can't do a true "flail run" by starting with a Level 3 flail, for example. It has to be Level 1, from the very first encounter.

For 5 points? fuck that.
