The Simpsons Game

Thought I'd start a thread for the Simspons Game. Anyone else looking forward to this one?

Here's some box art:

Wow, I love how the covers are all different!

I'm not sure i'd pick this up... i think i'd want to try a demo first and maybe grab it on a price drop. If anything, probably the 360 version though.

GatorDeb 09-05-07 06:49 PM

I'm picking it up for sure, I just don't know if I will get the Wii or DS version just yet... portability or that damn awesome controller... sigh.

I've been burned by Simpsons games too many times. Pass.

+1

Unless the demo shows me something spectacular than forget it.
I'm still smarting over my idiotic purchase of the Transformers video game.

Anubis2005X 09-05-07 07:39 PM

Can not freakin' wait for this game. I'll definitely be picking it up on PS3, though I do like the 360 cover art the best!

MasterofDVD 09-05-07 07:39 PM

I will certainly play the 360 version but I am not sure it will end up being worth 60 bucks. It looks stunning but after beating it I would have little interest in it.

In my defense, for some reason that thread doesn't come up when I search for "Simpsons" in this forum. :hscratch:

I like how all the covers are different, very cool!

But, it's a tie-in game.. and those are usually, well, you know.

tonyc3742 09-06-07 07:38 AM

I heard it doesn't actually have anything to do with the movie, just sort of tying in with the buzz from the movie?
I enjoyed Simpsons Hit and Run, I'll keep an eye out for this one. I have read previews where the humor from the show (at least from "good" seasons of the show) is very much intact, so that might be worth a looksee at least.

Edison 09-06-07 08:02 AM

I'll be picking it up on the 360, and even though I must be in the minority I liked Simpson's Road Rage and Simpson's Hit & Run. Heck my kids still play the gamecube version of Road Rage.

Hit and Run was widely liked and praised by critics. Road Rage wasn't bad either.

Play the game, not the license.

This poll should be a "choose many" nature since people may buy a handheld & a console version of the game (since they are different).

PixyJunket 09-06-07 08:45 AM

I can't comment on Hit and Run but Road Rage was basically a copyright infringing rip-off of Crazy Taxi, which was a great game. It's not hard to make a tie-in game good if you just steal another company's game practically point by point.

mmconhea 09-06-07 09:31 AM

I'll be buying 2, 360 and DS

True. I also wish I had done "choose many" since that way, people could vote for which system separately from buy/rent. Oh well. I suppose if a mod wants to reset the poll, we can all vote again -- otherwise, we'll all just have to laugh at my poor poll-crafting skills every time we open this thread.

boredsilly 09-06-07 10:27 AM

It looks good so far, so I'll probably give it a rent.

That guy in the video was music to my ears when he said it was only 11 hours or so. Short games are the order of the day.

The Bus 09-06-07 10:45 AM

I like how he's cheering in the 360 cover but angry in all the others.

Jeremy517 09-06-07 11:05 AM

I liked Hit and Run, but Simpsons games and other games like it always end up in the bargain bin pretty quickly. I'll just wait for it to get down to $10-$15 and then pick it up for the 360.

DaveWadding 09-06-07 02:23 PM

I like Heisman Homer on the PS3 cover....but 360 for me. :D

DodgingCars 09-06-07 02:26 PM

If I buy it this year, I'd buy it for the Wii.

tpc 09-06-07 03:07 PM

This looks like an amusing way to spend the weekend. When it hits the 20-30 dollar range, I'll give it another look.

I'd go with the Wii or 360, depending on the reviews. It's definitely not worth 50-60 dollars in my book.

That's exactly what I'm going to do.

PopcornTreeCt 09-09-07 08:17 PM

Does the PS3 version come with the movie? Or are they just writing Blu-Ray on all their games now?

I'm in the same boat as well. I was planning on only picking up the 360 version, but after showing my wife the developer video on GameTrailers, she said she needs the DS version for "Pet Homer."
