I can only get one game now, Metroid or Bioshock???

Subject basically says it all. I've played every Metroid game and love them. Also loved the Resident Evil 4 controls for the Wii. Bioshock looks amazing as well.

1) Which one has a longer single player story?
2) Which one has better controls?
3) Which one is more fun?

I wanted both but went with Metroid first given that it's one of my favorite series of all time. They are probably very similar in length, Metroid has better controls and your third question is going to be entirely subjective. They are both awesome games though, but I'd say get Metroid first if you're a Metroid fan.

BioShock.

I got to play Metroid Prime: Corruption the other day for a good bit, while it's fun it doesn't exactly feel fresh or unique (It is Metroid Prime 3 after all). It's a fun game with cool controls.

BioShock has the more standard controls, but imo, is more fun due to the atmosphere and general structure. It isn't as adventureous as Metroid (though isn't far off) but it has a more satisfying sense of progression. Plus it feels uttery unique.

But really, when it all comes down to it, they're two medium rare top-quality steaks, grab whichever one you feel more attracted to right now and grab the other immediately after.

I haven't popped in my copy of Metroid yet, but I'd have to go with Bioshock if only because it is so fresh. Pefectly rated new IPs are few and far between these days with the relentless onslaught of sequelitis.

I'm sure Metroid is worth all the 9's and praise it's getting but I can't imagine the third in the series of a 20 year old franchise is as fresh and awe-inspiring as a completely new franchise. Especially one as engaging as Bioshock and the unique atmosphere of Rapture.

Then again, if you want both, get the cheapest right now, Metroid and wait for a sale on Bioshock. Metroid will take far longer to drop in price than Bioshock.

Uh oh....this could get interesting....

My two cents...MP3! For me it's about the control. I have played the Bioshock demo on my 360 (and about 1/4 of the game on my buddies 360) and while I think it's a great game in its own right...MP3 is just a more fun and involving experience.

I will eventually pick up Bioshock, but I am glad I made the choice I did!

Can't comment on Metroid, demo was pretty cool. Still, Bioshock is something truly special. I'm blown away so far. If it wasn't for all the repetitive hacking (which is really just optional but beneficial enough to keep doing it), I'd have no complaints about this game -- it's near perfect and looks absolutely amazing.

Bioshock hands down. Metroid is the same old stuff over and over again. Yawn.

The juxtaposition of most future replies has basically been encapsulated already, though you may get more Bioshock votes since the forum has a heavy Xbox slant. People are just now finishing Bioshock and Metroid came out three days ago, nobody is going to be able to give a fully comprehensive comparison of the two yet.

I know for me, Im just an avg gamer (eventhough I do have all 3 systems), and Bioshock is the first game (with the exception of the Pokemon games on my DS) that I have felt the need to keep coming back to and playing over and over again. My wife is starting to think that I may never go to bed at a decent hour again and is getting quite mad at me about it. Can't speak on MP3 as I have yet to play it, but it is one that I plan on picking up, probably after I play Blue Dragon for a while.

Both are great, but Bioshock is a serious game of the year candidate. I only got to demo MP3 for a short while, but it didn't grab me the way Bioshock did.

Metroid is about twice as long as Bioshock, but, subjectively, Bioshock is more "re-playable".

You will eventually want both, for sure. I've been having a lot of fun with MP3 so far.
It is more innovative than you might think...the controls make the game lots of fun!
It is definitely not the 'same old stuff' at all.

I actually got Bioshock on release day and haven't even gotten to play it yet
That will change soon though. The demo was fantastic though.

I agree. As I mentioned in the MP3 thread, I wasn't even going to buy MP3 but I did on impulse and so far it's been cool. To be honest I'm still not as totally sold on the Wii as others here. But MP3, even more so than the Wii Resident Evil 4, is slowly chipping away my doubts.

Same here. I bought is right around release I haven't even popped it in the 360 yet. I want too, but I also want to mentally prepare myself and do it on a day when I have plenty of time.

Either way, I think both purchases were good ones.

Get em both eventually. In the meantime, you have to weigh the positives for each and figure out which fits you better.

MP3: Price...Innovative Controls
BS: Innovative for a FPS...Amazing Graphics...Great Story

For me, the controls trump everything else...but you may have other priorities.

Well, I've decided to get Metroid, for a few reasons.

The difference in graphics doesn't mean anything to me, even though I have HD. Metroid being $10 cheaper also helps, and I've seen Bioshock for rent already down here, but haven't seen Metroid yet.

Be sure to change your Metroid control setting to Advanced and I personally changed my fire button to the B trigger and jump to A. I'll finish Bioshock someday soon, I'm in Ryan's office but man, Metroid is awesome.

Yeah, if it a choice between the console versions I think I agree. I'm playing Bioshock on the PC so it was the cheaper of the two and has great controls.

Played from entering the ship to defeating the first lord and getting back to the ship. controls are going to take a little getting used to. i switched to advanced settings. not sure i love the lock-on or remote sensitivity yet.
