Puzzle Fighter II Controls messed up??

Is the controls messed up on puzzlle fighter II or is it my controller? When I press down, at times it would go right or left and down. Any one else encounter this problem?

I think it is the D-Pad that is messed up, on every 360 controller.
The up or down positions can also trigger side to side. Huge flaw.

I try not to use the analogue and use the d-pad, makes the movements more smooth for me.

Basically, you have to use the D-pad on this game, not the control stick.

I was about to say I'm not having this issue, but that is because the D pad on the PS3 is different.

I use the 360 controller a lot on the PC and usually don't have major issues. Guess this game is an exception.

The problem is, the d-pad on the 360 controller sucks. I downloaded the demo for this game on the PS3, and the d-pad on the sixaxis is so much better for this game.

I have no issues using the d-pad for this game or most others not named Pac-man.

The D-Pad is an abomination.

Yup, Analog too sensitive, D-pad too stiff

Too true, too true.

Yeah, I think the Xbox controller was made just to play Halo.. I don't think Microsoft even considered that there would games that would require precise non-analog controls when designing it. It's a really effing shame given the fantastic output of neo-retro software on Xbox Live Arcade. The d-pad is so bad I'm not even sure why it's there as anything more than decoration.

I use the D-Pad for this game. Analog blows.

I don't even think the D-Pad is acceptable for things like activating maps and inventory...which is pretty damn sad. It's totally unreliable.

For Pac Man CE, I use the analog stick. Can't remember what I did with Puzzle Fighter..only played it for 15 minutes.

I use d-pad on almost all the classic Live games. Especially Streets of Rage and Street Fighter 2 because that's how I used to play them.

That's interesting, my whole game goes nuts when I use the control stick. Stuff always moves sideways or up and down when I don't want it to.
