I also ordered the PC LE.
It'll be waiting for me Aug 22 when I come back from Hawaii!!!

I now REALLY wish I could afford a 360. :(

This game looks awesome and I really want to play it, but my pc is too outdated.

At the very least I would have to buy some memory, and even then I don't know if my processor is up to snuff.

And it also requires a shader model 3.0 video card. Pretty much every 360 port to PC game requires a shader model 3.0 card.

I preordered the LE at the local Gamestop, my first time ever pre-ordering a game. The guy at the register was really excited that I was pre-ordering something, LOL. Maybe they get paid extra for that or something..

They don't get paid extra, they just get to keep their jobs.

Who knew they would be so excited to spend another day in retail hell? :D

Playing the System Shock games isn't required to fully enjoy this, is it?

I have a really bad OCDish issue with jumping into books, television and movie series without starting with the first one, but it should like this game should stand on its own pretty well.

Everything I've heard indicates this has almost nothing do with earlier "Shock" games.

Bioshock is a completely separate setting and story from System Shock. The only similarity is that it's some of the same developers and they are aiming for the same "feel" to the game. Like two different Hitchcock movies -- you don't need to see Vertigo to enjoy Rear Window and vice versa.

Right, I think they called it Bioshock to let fans of the System Shock games know that the team is back at it, but the games, AFAIK, take place in two entirely different universes. Still, it's more than worth your time to play the first two System Shock games.
