Need help finding a good PC game pad/joystick

I've never had one since my 486 computer, and it sucked. Reacted slow, etc. The keyboard was the only way to go. But there are a few PC games that I really want to play, like Overlord, and it seems like it is time to get one. And surely they are better today than they were in the early 90s. It would be nice if it couls also play old arcade games, etc. I still use the mouse and keyboard for turn based strategy and RTS games, and assume that the game pads, etc. don't do a great job with those.

What's new in the past 15 years?

yea, get the wired one. If you're sitting near the computer, it would be more cost effective than getting the wireless + the adapter for your computer

From your PC? Wow. Well, you could get the wireless 360 controller and the adapter.. it'll run you at least $60 (on Amazon), probably more at a B&M. But, you'll at least have a second controller ready if you ever get an actual 360. The controller is superb though, except for the shitty d-pad. Still, the best pad you'll get for the PC.

Found this on CAG - http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/AS...eapassgam08-20

Supposedly a wireless controller AND the receiver for $37.99.

What's in the Box
Wireless controller, receiver with cable, recharge cable, and product manual.

Do you have to buy the gaming receiver with that or can you just buy the wireless game pad? That's a great price.

Pixy- this is on the projector on a 122" screen. I quit playing most FPS games on it because I started to get too queazy.

It says it includes the USB Receiver. It also calls the item "Microsoft Xbox 360 Wireless Controller for Windows".

It has a different list price ($59.95) and ASIN that either of these items
Xbox 360 Controller for Windows - $30.99 ($39.99 list)
Xbox 360 Wireless Controller - $37.99 ($39.99 list)

I found an adapter at Wal-Mart for $10 and use my Logitech Wireless PS2 controller. So far its great for Geometry Wars - the reason I bought it.

Okay, I ordered one. If it isn't what it appears to be, I'll return it.

One thing the CAG thread does mention is that it doesn't come with the "recharge cable" like Amazon says it does. Some people have called and bitched and got that separate item sent to them as well. I don't know if that's true or not, but they say it does come with the receiver.

Let me know if you're happy with it because, while I don't need a 2nd controller for my 360 yet, it seems too good to pass up - especially if I can eventually use it on the PC.

I bought this a few weeks ago, it comes with the receiver. Surprising since it's cheaper than the 360 version and comes with the receiver.

I'm stoked. Should be here tomorrow. Now I just need to find a way to make days last 30 hours so that I can find time to play.
