I've never gotten the ring, just dirty disc errors. A vertical 360 will slice through your games like a hot knife through butter.

I never got the same unit back, always a new one. I called to register the new S/N.

Also, no need to send in the faceplate. They send new ones out. Plus, no one's getting my official Adidas WC06 faceplate.

Yeah, the note that came with the coffin mentioned that you should hold on to the HDD and any custom faceplates.

Do Blockbuster stores still rent consoles? I might need a fix to hold me over if the repair takes longer than two weeks.

I know the 2 locations immediately around me don't

UncleGramps 08-10-07 01:58 PM

Yeah, I looked around online and couldn't find any mention of places renting 360s. Guess I'll just have to catch up on old games and keep myself busy with Metroid Prime 3 once that comes out. It's a shame that the best next-gen console is also the least reliable. Hopefully the new heatsinks will fix the red ring issues and make it a more stable system.

Bake your 360 to repair a RROD problem. :hscratch:

The red ring is supposedly caused by chips coming loose from the board. Superheating it will probably melt some of those bad contacts and get it to work again temporarily. Kind of a temporary way to fix a bad solder point. I'm sure it also does more damage as well and has to be a hell of a fire hazard.

This sounds dangerous and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. Just send your system back for repair. No since chancing a fire.

Wow... that was painful to watch.... that guy sucks... lol

I'm dusted off my GameCube and rented Twilight Princess from Gamefly. This game should hold me off for at least a month.

I'm 4 hours into the game and I'm barely into the first dungeon.

Mittman 08-11-07 03:48 PM

Mine just died. Worst thing is that I had just started playing a lot again to get ready for the new Madden 08.

I know this is going to take about a month to fix, but will it honestly be fixed? Since coming out with the new 3 year warrenty, has Microsoft actually found a way to fix the consoles for good?

Yeah, Twilight Princess is a great game and definitely takes a while to play through. As for me, I decided to play through Metroid Prime 2 since I never finished it, and since it'll warm me up for MP3. Those two games should keep me busy until my refurb arrives.

Damn, I wish I would have read this thread before I called on mine. If I could have caused a RROD I wouldn't be out $100
