It's freaking horrible. Pac-man needs a 4-way stick. The game is obviously tuned for the analog stick. I can't believe how bad it is with the Hori -- completely unplayable.

Wow, that's shitty news. The analog control spits out too many unwanted directions in my experience, I'd say half of my deaths in Pac-Man: CE are due to the controller mishaps. Pretty much everybody I've gotten to play it (including a few Pac-Man vets) agree on that. I've gotten used to it to a degree, but it's certainly not the optimal way to play this game.

I don't have any problems with the stick. I can even do some Tecmo-Bowl jukes if need be but those only happen when I'm off my path anyway.

I played a bit this morning enough to get me just past whoever was ahead of me. My goal is to hit 300,000+ but it seems awfully difficult.

damn. Nah. Just gives me a better reason to play. Competition is a better incentive than besting my own score.

I just had a near-perfect run for myself. It's going to be very hard for me to top my new score of 405,220!

Honestly, I had a perfect run up to the second set of candy where I wasn't able to get in the 6 power-pellet feeding frenzy with all the ghosts. Ate as many as I could than died when going for the power-pellets after the candy mazes. Only had about 10 seconds left there so I ate as many ghosts before time ran out.

I've sent a friend request to you, Michael Corvin. I'm on a quest to get 300,000, but I'm having a hard time. My gamertag is SirMikael79, so please add me to the list!

Well, finally beat miyu's score. I was surprised I got that high, I didn't think it was possible. It basically boils down to: don't die, don't waste time. My near-300 run I didn't stop to eat ghosts except for the very beginning and the six-power-pellet run, which I didn't even do that well in. But eating the small pellets at 50 points versus 10 or 20 really does add up.

I also went back to top my old Pacman score and got Ms. Pacman. Both games are infuriating to play now.

I'm still stuck in 260-280k land as my typical scores. But I haven't watched any videos and don't really follow any specific patterns, so I'm working from my own strategies. One of these days I won't be itching to play ten games at once and may put a dedicated hour to Pac-Man: CE.

I have to reiterate that I think the analog stick works fine and it's user error. I noticed the stick wasn't "working right" recently but that happened after I saw the score and saw I was breaking a record. I'd blame nerves first.

I just dl'ed this game Friday because of this thread. Good relaxing game. I'm at 220k right now with no real strategy yet.

Check out any fighting game tournament and see how many people are rocking Street Fighter II or King of Fighters with analog controllers (I'll give you a hint: zero). I agree that the analog is fine, I made 300k in the first week I had the game, but it's only fine in that there's isn't an appropriate means to get precision digital control for the title at the time.

KoF with analog sticks is hellish. The 360's D-Pad leaves a lot to be desired. Do they pre-insert peanut butter underneath it? It's got the worst "feel" of any pad since, well, the MS Sidewinder. Give me the old SNES D-pad please, or even the Genesis one.

I'm just talking for Pac Man CE. I can't enjoy fighting games on the 360. Once someone comes out with a good arcade joystick, I'll get it.

Can someone add me and tell me what I got? Probably 100,000ish or something, but I did get the achieve for 400,000 on a different setting.

User: tygloalex

PS: I'd check myself, but I got RROD, so I'm without the xbox for a bit.

Corvin hasn't been on in almost a week. I think he might be dead. In fact, he disappeared around the time trozkd beat his high score. He might have committed seppuku.

He hasn't been on his 360 for around the same amount of time either. Vacation perhaps?
