I'll get it for the 360, probably closer to Dec though as there are so many other freaking games coming out. I tend to play Football and Baseball games in their respective games' off-seasons.

So what's the best deal on this?

I'm probably going to pre-order it online at Best Buy...$10 off another game with Madden pre-order, then pre-order Halo as that other game to get $10 off, and get the 1600 points card for $5. I'm running the numbers on other individual deals for each, and this BB deal is a little better than the others if you want Madden, Halo, and points.

The DS version is finally coming into focus. It actually has a feature I'd love to have on my 360.

More info at cag.com, but from the thread posted, at TRU if you buy Madden you can get any game, equal or lesser value, for 50% off. There are some games excluded from the offer.

Additionally, if you preorder Madden, you get a $5 giftcard. Plus, there's a 20% in store coupon that may be combined with the offer, possible YMMV. Just click on the link on the homepage:

NCAA 08 and All Pro will do me just fine this season. If I get the Madden itch I'll play 07, which I barely played last year.

I will give EA big props though for this year's ad campaign. It really does an excellent job of selling the tradition of the game.

From what I've read it's pretty much the same story as NCAA. The 360 version runs at 60fps, while the PS3 runs at 30fps. I'm not sure which site it was (maybe 1up), but one of the review sites has a side by side video comparison of the two.

It was 1up. But I couldn't tell a difference.

For those deciding between the 360 and the PS3 versions of the game.

From IGN.com:

"Madden NFL 08 on PS3 is no a great game. It is a shadow of its cousin on 360. Though the feature set is identical, the drop to an unstable 30fps hurts considerably. The visuals and the gameplay suffer. If you are a real Madden nut and think you can fight through the framerate issues, Madden is an overall good game. It just doesn't run very well."

Score on xbox 360 was 8.7 and 7.7 for PS3 for what its worth.

So once again the EA hype machine got everybody thinking this year's game would be like nothing we've seen before, and it gets an 8.7 vs. 8.5 for a mediocre game last year. Obviously reviews aren't everything, it's just funny how the big guns like EA can make us all think a game will be wonderful when in reality it's probably just "good."

Getting the Xbox version, but I haven't finished the campus legand on NCAA, so I am not ready for the draft on Madden... Now I may never finish.

That's kinda shocking. I don't understand why there should be such a difference in performance. The PS3 is a mighty powerful system and this is far from a launch title. Any idea why there's such a disparity? I thought things were pretty much even, per the last round of tests at gamespot at least.

They still haven't gotten the hang of the system. Even last year's 360 version wasn't 60fps, so it can take them some time to get things right. I think I'm going to reluctantly get the PS3 version since I didn't get any version last year and I don't have a 360, but I won't do it next year if it's not 60fps then.

BTW is Michael Vick in the game, and what would be the best way to remove him? Release him and edit the stats to zeroes so another team doesn't sign him?

Well, I guess I have to get this after all. I'm getting my 360 today and need something to hold me over until PGR4, NHL and Halo 3.

How has Madden online been in the past?

Easy to find/connect with people? Is it a lobby-type system?

Lobby system, but the connections are usually pretty shaky for the first week or two.

Toys R Us has this deal:
Buy Madden 08 and get 50% off another game

There is also a 20% coupon that can be applied to Madden 08.

Basically, two games for $80ish....a GREAT deal. Although, I still have credit at GameRush, so no cash out beats $80 for me. Plus, not another game I REALLY want right now.
