Yeah i just read that the 360 will run at 60 FPS while for some reason they decided to only run it at 30 FPS for PS3

All EA games this year will be running at 60fps on 360 and 30 on PS3. I will still be buying it on PS3 though. I've been playing this game since the franchise started and it doesn't feel right to me on anything other than a PS controller. I tried it last year on 360 and I couldn't get used to it.

My understanding is that the PS3 NCAA and Madden run at 30 fps and in 720p while the 360 versions run in 60 fps and at 1080p. This is unacceptable to me. If I'm a PS3 owner (which I'm not, but probably will be soon), I would be outraged to the point that I would have to sit out this year of those games. I'm a Nintendo Wii fanboy, so I'm essentially buying the PS3 as my second console to play those very EA titles (and Blu-Ray releases). I might as well get Madden on Wii, since the "next-gen" version of the game can only be found on a console that I don't have, and have no plans of getting. It is really hard to sell me on a product that has been confirmed as inferior.

I think the reason it doesn't run at 30 fps on the PS3 is because they haven't figured out how to do it yet. They've been working on the 360 for a full year before the PS3.

All Pro 2k8 is also locked at 30fps on PS3, and thats not EA. They have been working on a 360 version and a PS3 version of All Pro for the same amount of time...go Sony!

I read on Operationsports that Madden will run at 60 fps on PS3, but NCAA and AP2K8 are both 30. Another factor could be the XBox Live Spring update that makes obtaining roster files a slightly more difficult process on the 360 version than it is on the PS3. Also, the controller could be a factor. I prefer the XBox controller for FPS games, but I've always liked the PS controller for football games. In the last generation, for some reason I preferred the PS2 gameplay to the XBox versions even though the XBox always looked much better. I chose the PS3 version despite the lower framerate due to the controller and the fact that my XBox has been back to "the shop" a few times over the past 4 months and this is coming down to the time of the year when I do the most gaming. Reliability...
Edit: Someone who claims to be from EGM is refuting the Madden/PS3 60fps thing on a message board. I guess we'll have to wait and see.

It's not that big of a difference for sports games. The action isn't moving too fast anyway. A FPS would be another story though. The 08 demo on XBLive doesn't look or play much better than 07.

I picked it up this afternoon and hope to get a game in tonight. I'll post my thoughts tomorrow... maybe.

Usually I'm not a big believer in these things making that big a difference, but NCAA 2008 runs much smoother than 2007 does. Having played a lot of 2007 on the 360 recently, both the 2008 demo and now the actual 2008 game are light years ahead of 2007 in this area.

So what made the roster updates on the 360 harder to import? And is anyone even making rosters for the PS3?

With the Spring Update, any saves that appeared on the 360gamesaves.com site were disabled on all 360's (they come up as "corrupt"), since many of the saves on the site allowed people to gain achievements that they themselves hadn't earned. Also Microsoft had the ability to figure out on what machine each of the saves originated from, and could ban any future saves coming from those machines as well. Well Fairdale King's popular sports rosters had been uploaded by someone other than FK onto the site, so all of those roster saves were blacklisted as well. Since then, FK bought a new 360 and his rosters are now good to go. He has asked that no one posts them on 360gamesaves.com and that the site owners remove the files if they were to appear to prevent this from happening again. The actual importing process is the exact same as before

From what people in the industry have said (I'm not in said industry), the reason is due to the way the code was ported from the 360 version(s). The PS3 has 7 CPUs, but doesn't have much of a GPU (the CPU is supposed to do it). Meanwhile, the 360 has a really powerful GPU. So, if on the 360, the code utilized the GPU heavily, it will run like crap when ported to the PS3 if not properly written to take advantage of the Cell's unique structure.
Realistically, while the PS3 could run games just as well as the 360 on its hardware, if the 360 keeps a lead in hardware sales, this trend will continue. Being as (or even more) powerful than the 360 won't amount to much if the PS3 continues to get second-rate ports from the 360 versions.

So does anyone know where you can get a copy of the rosters that will not corrupt your save files?

some of the new tackling animations are nice (in air collisions), but the tackling is very, very bad. Way too many broken tackles. The game looks as nice as last year, but having no refs or mascots on the field is noticable.
A friend brought it over tonight and we played a bit. Fun, but I wouldn't buy it.

That is good, I guess I can put my $60 back in the bank until October and GTA comes out. I was going to download the NCAA demo last night, but read you played as Michigan, and I couldn't bring myself to do that.
