Hey

I know everyone has the list of those killer games like Halo3, Bioshock, Assassin's Creed, COD4, etc... but there were some other games that had some pretty good trailers showing their stuff but will face a uphill climb with the games mentioned above.

Here are some that after seeing the trailer deserves a bit more if some are looking for that "other" game. Enjoy

wow, so you think mass effect will have an uphill battle? From buzz I've seen that's one of the most prominent titles in the lineup.

Yeah Mass Effect will be a big hitter too, so it should not belong in the "other" category.

Mercenaries 2 will probably be pretty big too. The original was pretty popular.

I wached a demo of Fracture on G4, it looked like an interesting premise, similar in gameplay to Red Faction, with modifiable terrain. They ripped on it on the 1up podcast, calling it innovative but derivative, because of the similarity to Red Faction, but the concept is more exciting IMO than the average high profile FPS. Even if it is just a Red Faction knock off, I don't consider that a bad thing, since not many games have utilized modifiable terrain.

I watched the trailer too, and I think the 1up crew were right. The current state of the game looked sort of gimmicky, and the level design made using the powers on the environment very scripted...sort of like seeing a giant crack in the wall in Ninja Gaiden as a cue to use your hammer to break it down.

But it's still a long way from release so hopefully it'll have a bit more polish next time they show it.

I agree, I am worried too that it could be too scripted, I think they were a little harsh though, I don't think some of the other big, single player, FPS's get this kind of scrutiny despite not bringing much new to the table.

I am ALL OVER that Conan game when it comes out! Damn that game looks good.

That trailer of Conan looks pretty good. Very God of War-esque. However, the trailer that came out on the marketplace a few weeks ago looked like ass. So, either the marketplace trailer was old, or they've done a lot of polish in the past few weeks.

finally found a moment to check out Turok. Nice. I've been waiting for a decent sequel to the Dinosaur Hunter since the first game 10 years ago. This one is definitely showing more promise than any of the actual sequels ever did.

January release too. Could be the Lost Planet of 2008.

Here's a more recent interview and gameplay trailer on Fracture. It has to be noted this game is "scheduled" for summer of 08 so this has to be very, very early stages of what we're seeing. The concept is pretty different with the use of the landscape as tactical. It does have some cool effects.

I have to agree both Turok and Conan could be sleeper winners. Conan surprised me with its look and Turok has come a long way. I like the part of turning the Dinos against your enemies. I don't think there's a bad game on the list. One game missing that I didn't see much on was Time-Shift

A killer video and preview of Turok over at XBL. They seem to have been impressed with the overall feel of the game. The footage is of the first level and pretty good size at 117mb. They're saying scheduled for early 08 which is good.
