"Prince of Persia: Warrior Within" or "Two Thrones"?

So I am on a "Prince of Persia" kick now that I have re-discovered "Sands of Time".

I like the Mature nature of these two and think I will like one of these better than SoT.

So if you could pick only one, which one would it be in terms of similarities to SoT in terms of gameplay and fun factor, but the one that is bloody and violent ? Doesn't matter what platform you've played on. (i'm on GC)

I haven't played Two Thrones but I tired of the whole "bad boy" Prince and rock music about two levels into Warrior Within. Wasn't even close to the perfection that was Sands of Time. It was as if another developer stepped in and decided to shake things up.

I'll probably go back to it, but I'm in no rush.

I loved Sands of Time very much, but as much as I tried (and believe me, I did!) I could not get into Warrior Within at all. I heard Two Thrones was a happy medium, but I haven't had a chance to check it out yet.

I'm mixed about the two sequels.

Warrior Within had the annoying "badass" Prince and the music was offputting (although it gets more Middle Eastern in flavor later on while still keeping the heavy metal feel the developers went for the sequel) at first. However, once you got passed that and the rather excessive combat, Warrior Within has a great amount of exploration to offer a gamer who loved just that in The Sands Of Time. It somehow became great fun despite its glaring faults.

The Two Thrones has a more pleasing production design (given it's more reminicent of The Sands Of Time), the music has more synth/orchestra/Middle Eastern feel, and the boss battles are the most ingenious the series has ever offered (given the bosses themselves are puzzles). However the exploration just isn't there. You're just offered two choices. Find a way around the room to achieve a stealth kill or just plow through everyone in the room. That gameplay mechanic gets old fast. However they do mix things up with the Dark Prince given you need to plow through enemies quickly and find your way through various dungeons in a very limited amount of time. Thankfully, the game constantly shifts between the two (and you even get a couple of chariot races to boot) so neither gets to outsay its welcome too long.

So I think both have their merits and their faults. That said, though I appreciate the tonal shift in The Two Thrones, Warrior Within actually has more of a PoP feel between the two (when you get passed all the crap).

But if you want bloodier and more violent, go for Warrior Within. The Two Thrones is only somewhat bloody in the first few levels and then there is not so much as a drop spilt during the rest of the game.

I enjoyed The Two Thrones more, but what happens in Warrior Within really plays a part in the third entry as well. I'd recommend playing through both sequels in order!

That's true, IMO at least. I liked all three games, but Warrior Within was my least favorite.

WW tries too much to appeal to the teenage crowd with its heavy metal music and skimpily clad females. WW does have the most free roaming of the series though, and the Dahaka chase scenes are awesome.

TTT is not quite as good as SoT, but it is a definite improvement over WW. TTT keeps all the good stuff from WW (the deeper combat system) while at the same time going back to the more "Persian" atmosphere of SoT.

Like the previous poster said, I recommend playing through both in order. The story of TTT is a direct continuation of WW. The ending of WW leads straight into TTT.

I agree, Warrior Within's problems are mostly the atmospheric changes to the prince with attitude, and the female characters that looks like they were designed by some prepubescent boy. They really lost the charm of the first game. That said the combat is much better than the original and the Dahaka chases add an urgency to the platforming.

Two Thrones is the best overall game in the series IMO, It combines the best of the earlier games into one. It combines the combat from the second, with a return to the atmosphere of the first. I think the only reason it wouldn't place above the original for most people, is it's just a sequel, without much innovation.

But I agree with everyone else, play them in order since the storyline continues. They are short games anyways.

SoT has two boss battles. You should be close to the first one, and the final boss are the only two in the game.

WW has more boss battles, maybe half a dozen or so, but they are all of the hack-n-slash variety.

TTT has the best boss battles in my opinion. There are maybe half a dozen in the game, and they are mostly puzzle/platforming based battles.
