So what off the wall-surprises do you guys want or hope to see?
Here is my wishlist: Xbox 360 Blast Corps for XBLA Kameo 2 Viva Pinata: anything, DS, substantial DLC or a sequel Dead Rising 2 XBLA "players choice" games. Offer up a different XBLA game each week on sale. New Marketplace "bulk" cards where you actually get more for spending more up front. instead of the straight 1600 price multiplied. Nintendo Wii Waverace Kid Icarus: 3D adventure F-Zero Luigi's Mansion 2 Pikmin 3 Commodore 64 on the VC DS Download Channel Nintendo Power back issue channel additional storage option or SD card playback Wireless Classic Controller & nunchuck Classic Controller & Wii Points bundle that Japan has Nintendo DS Metroid: 2D adventure Kid Icarus: 2D adventure New Super Mario Bros. 2 Pikmin: imagine stylus control  a way to play VC games on the go |

I keep hearing rumblings of Mario Kart Wii being a surprise. Shouldn't be too much of a problem to take the Gamecube DD engine and port it to the mostly-similar Wii and just slap on a new, enhanced Excite Truck control scheme. They already took it online with the slower DS.

*The original Prey started development around the same time as Duke Nukem Forever. Here is a Gamespot preview of Prey from 1997. The last paragraph in that preview cracks me up. "But make no mistake, Prey is a long way off. 'Sometime in 98' were the exact words of the developers." If they only knew... I enjoyed Prey too. The thing that disappointed most people is that the game was in development for 10 years and in the end, it turned out to be a fairly generic Doom clone that was 6 hours long. The rotating room puzzles were the only unique thing about the game. |
Here are a few of my hopes:
Beyond Good & Evil II (a Wii exclusive with the original as a bonus) Metroid Dread Kid Icarus DS Wireless Wii Classic Controller US Release Dates for Dragon Quest Swords, Dragon Quest IX and Final Fantasy IV DS New Super Mario Bros. 2 Mario Golf Wii Cave Shooting Collection for Wii (least likely of all, sad) |

The only thing that worries me is power sliding. If the game controls similar to Excite Truck, I can only imagine that power sliding will involve holding a button on the remote to hop, then shaking the remote up and down to get that speed burst. Man, that would get tiring. |
Bringing this over from the PS3 discussion thread because I think it might have got lost and it probably belongs here just as well (or moreso). I hope Microsoft does announce something like this.
Grain of salt time: http://www.gamesindustry.biz/content_page.php?aid=26511 Following Sony's USD 100 price cut announcement, leading industry analyst Michael Pachter has gone on record predicting that Microsoft will quickly follow its rivals' lead and slash prices on all Xbox 360 models. The Wedbush Morgan analyst expects the recently released Xbox 360 Elite to go from USD 479 to USD 399, the Premium model to see a drop from USD 399 to USD 349 and the Core system to be reduced from USD 299 to USD 249. "We expect Microsoft to follow with a price cut of its own," said Pachter. "Last week, Microsoft announced a slight Xbox 360 shipment shortfall and we do not believe that the company is prepared to allow Sony to erode its pricing advantage. "We think that the console manufacturers will continue to cut price as their production costs come down, and expect sales to ramp significantly this holiday season," he added. The company does not expect Nintendo to reduce the price of the Wii or DS, "as sales for both are still very strong and are anticipated to remain so through the end of the year." |
$50 isn't going to do much to make me budge.. it helps, but it's kind of weak sauce.
