Lost Planet difficulty
so how hard is this game?
My friend played it on normal and he told me the boss fights are very hard and recommended that I play it on easy. I only played a few mins so far and trying to decide whether to play it on easy or normal. As a frame of reference, I found DeadRising to be hard, but not frustratingly hard. Played Gears on casual and found it just about my level except for the final boss fight (probably took me about 100 tries and many hours to kill him). GRAW2 I found fairly easy. GRAW1 i found frustratingly hard on some of the missions. |
nah, your friend must stink at video games
I beat this game on normal in 2 sittings |
I just beat it myself on Normal. Took me longer than two sittings, and I definitely died more than a few times on the bosses but once you figure them out they aren't that bad.
|
thats really what it comes down to. there's certain animations for each boss that you just have to learn to exploit
|
I think there are achievements for each level of difficulty, so if you want everything you have to play through each.
I still need to finish it. |
EVery now and then I fire up Lost Planet, get killed a few times by that space hornet at the end of level 4, and put the game back on the shelf. But I stink at video games (FPS video games, anyway). :)
|
I gave up on the game. The bosses were kicking my ass.
|
I'll retract my previous statement then
I honestly didn't know people had that many problems with the bosses. I thought the HUGE green guy was semi-hard at first, but I don't think any others really stuck out to me |
The robo-tank boss was the worst for me. And the tentacle one was hard too, but I honestly had no idea what to do for that one and had to look it up on Gamefaqs.
As a general rule, you almost always fight the bosses in the VS suits, and they usually give you another suit or two (or more!) in the same room. Plus, I managed to finally beat that tank boss after he had destroyed two suits. It was actually easier on foot and I had almost no health. I am not the greatest gamer in the world and I beat most of the bosses the first time I got to them. Some of them I did have to walk away from but I usually came back and beat them on the first try the next time. |

I just beat it, and for the most part the game was too easy. There were a couple difficult boss fights, but nothing that couldn't be done after adjusting your strategy a little bit. I would use your VS suits for most of the fights, they are much better at dodging in general.
The only bosses I really had trouble with were the tank/spider boss and the final boss. But they weren't impossible. For most of the bosses I had enough stored thermal energy to get hit a ton of times and not die. |

so are there tricks/weaknesses to the bosses that will make the fight much easier? or does the game rely alot on skill?

so is there a way to save in the middle of a mission?
when I turn off my xbox, it doesn't save to the last restart point and I have to play the mission from the beginning? |
...That doesn't sound right. I'm pretty sure you can save it before you turn it off and you'll start at the nearest checkpoint.
I can't say for 100% but I doubt I beat the game starting every new play session from the beginning of the level and didn't notice. |
Forget the campaign and come join in some multiplayer goodness.

I've been trying to get dvdtalkers to do this for months now but most seem to hate LP and/or they're addicted to GOW, COD2, and HALO 2. -ohbfrank- It figures, I suck at GOW, COD 2, and Halo 2 but LP is the one game I can actually do well playing and it's the one game they don't want to play. |
Aren't Mondays official Lost Planet night on the DVDTalk XBox Live rotation? I'll try to remember to pop the game in tonight but I make no promises. :)

It may in the rotation now, but it wasn't when I had my 360. Everytime I would mention LP people would laugh at me. :( |
the worm was REALLY difficult until i realized it's going to respawn constantly.
you just have a minute in between before the next one pops up. it took me months to realize when its down, its a new worm, and you're good to go. |
I just borrowed this from my buddy and I died on level 2. It doesn't seem too hard but it is still early. I just hate how slow you move/aim.

if you hit the RB or LB button, your view spins 90 degrees right away :/
