Re: Video game podcasts
I agree, I still listen to the Cagcast, I do find the show entertaining, but I never find the gaming discussion very interesting. I think they have a hard time articulating anything beyond this game was fun. Granted they aren't gaming journalists like most podcasts. It's still the website I visit most often for the gaming deals though.

Re: Video game podcasts
I just finished listening to Weekend Confirmed and I liked it. While some gaming podcasts have hosts that sound like immature kids talking crap, this one was good, they stayed on topic the whole time.

Re: Video game podcasts
I'm about half-way through.
If anybody, anywhere needs a John Davison or a Shane Bettenhousen to tell them they are full of shit every now and then...it's Garnett Lee.
It's good to hear his voice again. I just hope it gets a bit more contentious down the road.

Re: Video game podcasts
Speaking of John Davison, he's apparently started a show at Gamepro: Gamepro Conversation
It's searchable on iTunes. I haven't listened yet, as I'm listening to Weekend Confirmed, but hey...it's John Davison.

Re: Video game podcasts
So I'm listening to Gamepro Conversation, and John seems to be going for something in the vein of Life Well Wasted or Irrational Behavior (which both are aping This American Life). John is more or less serving as narrator. It's interesting and is thus far a good listen. It's all about Heavy Rain, which I'm only marginally interested in, and I'm still enjoying it. If they do a game every week, this could be a great show.
I'm much more looking forward to seeing where this goes than I am Weekend Confirmed...mostly because I already listen to 10-15 other shows that are just like Weekend Confirmed. Gamepro seems to be doing something different.

Last week's mobcast was UPROARIOUS. I don't know what that one panelists' deal was, but the story about the minotaur cracked me up. I wish that guy would get his own podcast, with the main Mobcast guy who was jokingly mocking him (you can tell they were friends).

I've been giving Weekend Confirmed a shot the past three days. I'm about 45 minutes through it in three sittings*. What a bore, and I generally like Garnett.
*I should note that I listen at work so there is nothing keeping me from listening to the whole thing in one sitting other than how boring it is.

Re: Video game podcasts
I first thought Weekend Confirmed was going to be a Revision3 podcast that I could watch after seeing Cannata was involved. At least that way, I could see some gameplay and trailers. I'm only 10-15 minutes into the first one and I have to agree with the comments, it's pretty dull.

I'm going to give it a few more chances. Like anytime someone I know well hooks up with some guys I'v e never heard of, it takes a while to get into.

Re: Video game podcasts
I liked Weekend Confirmed. As for the Gamepro podcast, I liked all the interview clips, but the editing could use a little work (too many awkward silences between segments), and John sounded a little bored and overly serious in places. I'm just not quite sold on the format yet.

Re: Video game podcasts
It took only a couple of minutes of listening to the latest offering on the Gamespy Debriefings feed for me to unsubscribe. Thanks IGN .
