Official Forza Motorsports 2 Thread

Here's a place for us to discuss this great game exclusively.

For all those considering buying the MS racing wheel, I would say it is a must. As some people have said it is much easier to take corners using the wheel. With the standard controller you have to kinda keep tapping the analog stick to take a long corner. With the wheel you can make much more precise movements. Same goes for the gas and brake. With a controller it's pretty much all or nothing, whereas it's much easier to ease on and off the brake with real pedals.

Also the force feedback is great. You can feel when you are just about to lose control, which allows you to push the car to the very edge.

Now the wheel takes awhile to get used to don't get discouraged. Just keep practicing. My first ten or so races with the wheel I finished dead last. Now after some practice I post consistently better times than I ever did with the controller.

The MSRP of the wheel is $150.

It is currently on sale at Wal-Mart for $119.97! And it still comes with Project Gotham Racing 3, a very good game in it's own right, and a whole new experience with the racing wheel.

I was happy to realize that I hadn't deleted my PGR3 save. That saved me a lot of time.

Has anybody had a problem with losing part of a save?

I have been doing career, and I was doing the races I could under each event type available for my level. I went back to the (semi-pro I think) and all races were open. I know I was working on the Viper challenge, and was on the last course, and now, nothing!

I guess I will look to see if I have the reward cars to verify, but I was just wondering if anybody else experienced this.

Never experienced losing progress in saves (yet). I am only a few days into playing this game so I have gone through most of the first 3 sets of races. Great game, I really wanted to try the wheel before paying that much for a wheel, but it is hard to steer with the analog pad and I am glad I am not the only one who feels this way.

MSRP of the wheel is actually $129 now. And of course I bought it a week before the drop. Anyone know if Target will do price adjustments? Boxing it up again would be a PITA.

But yeah this game is awesome. I need to get back into it soon but I just got DiRT.

I just bought the MS racing wheel today, it's awesome! I tried on PGR3 (that included), I was awkward with it at first. I realized that the steering isn't great with chase cam, so I decided to try on helmet cam - it's perfect.

I have been racing for years, all on chase cam. I guess I can practice with helmet cam.

I'll have to re-download the demo of Forza 2 and see how big difference with controller (that I got frustrated with).

Thanks guys for advice.

I was racing with some guys last night, including a pro (he's top 100 on a few courses). He just started playing with the racing wheel. He said the biggest (negative) difference is braking, you can't brake as quickly using the wheel (without ABS at least) because you can trigger faster than you can pedal apparently.

I'm not sure I understand you correctly, but I hope this helps...
When you leave a race, especially one where you must compete in the specified order of the tracks, the game asks if you would like to continue the game in progress. If you select 'No', you must begin the series over again from the first track.

The easiest solution is to always select 'Yes' whenever you're asked this question. You will be able to go in and out of races to select new [better] cars if the current one you're using isn't sufficient. This is kind of a loop hole for this game. In a real life series (i.e. American LeMans, F1, etc.) the rules won't allow you to race with one car, then come back with a completely different car with more horsepower and less weight to finish the rest of the series. LOL! The game developers may have overlooked this.

For those of you that have the wheel, are you using it on your lap or is it mounted onto a coffee table in front of you???

I would like to get it but the last couple of steering wheels I bought (one for my PC 4 years ago and another for my PS1 6 years ago) both went back to the store because they felt awkward. This was especially true of the wheel for the PS1 where I had the damn thing on my lap. It just didn't feel right and the pedals would gradually slide away from my feet as I used them. That was annoying.

that's probably some BS right there. This game doesn't reward you for either slamming on the gas or the break

I'm top 100 on a few courses. It's really not hard

The MS racing wheels can be mounted to table/desk OR on your laps. As for me, I rather use it mounted to my desk. The pedal is probably weakest of MS racing wheel, mine have been slipping around. I'm thinking of adding a rubber mat on the floor with no slip on bottom, it should hold that bastard there.

Would any fellow DVD Talkers be interested in getting together for some clean, friendly Forza races? My GT is Kromax44.

Maybe, I guess I should be more clear. I assume you drive without ABS, I tend to "quickly slam" the trigger repeatedly to break. Though it depends on the turn and such. I "eased" onto the break much more often with ABS on than I do off. I always ease onto the accelerator now though.

I'm honestly not entirely sure how the wheel reacts, I don't have one, I was just commenting on what I heard from a guy I've been playing with who recently switched.

Man, the auction house is screwed.

As I said before, I wanted to get a 35th anniversary Camaro, the unicron car. It starts at $5k every day.

Now I was thinking that it has been a while, most everybody that wants one would have one. But alas, due to some sort of glitching/auction house cheat these cars are selling for 300 million dollars!! This is just insane, and really takes the enjoyment from the auction house, I mean WTF!

As for the missing races, I guess I may have answered wrong to some question, it is not a big deal. I guess it added "replay" value.

I kinda wish I had picked Asia to start, as it seems the award cars are from there, then ones I like anyways.

I am still enjoying the game though!

I picked Asia, but I don't think it was really anything special

that is fucked up about the auction house. I would assume there is a cheat of some sort in that case...

or, people who are on lvl 50 purchase said enzo for 250,000 in game, and sell it to people for 350,000 on the auction house

According to other sites, there is a glitch, and maybe more than one.

One of them involved putting a cheap car up for auction and bidding a lot of money, then doing something like replacing the save with a second save. When the auction ends you get your money back, but you still have your orinal amount as well.

I think is is more involved, but I really don't care about specifics.

I have also read about people "unlocking" paint jobs and then reselling them on a bunch of cars.

ah ha!!

someone was trying to tell me that they spent all this time making a scarface paint job, and he was in awe of it.

I knew that must've been done out of game

As far as I know, there is no way to import paint jobs.

What is happening is person A makes a good design, locks it and sells it at an auction (for 200+ million). Duper then takes the design, unlocks it somehow and makes a bunch of copies and sells them at the auction, and the process repeats.

You can't unlock paint jobs.. Some people make designs and forget to lock them, and therefore those flood the AH. That's why there's tons of scarface, that one zelda one, and that stupid anime thing everywhere from tons of sellers.
