Spoiler:
Wendy Oldbag or was it Wendy Oldhag?
Spoiler:
It was Wendy Oldbag. I must say the bits in Episode 5 when Phoenix sees visions of Dick Gumshoe and Oldbag in Edgeworth's office are funny/intriguing. I like how older characters still play a part later on.

Another funny/annoying bit is the pervy, leery Director of the Steel Samurai who only speaks in text - annoying as I don't speak text.

Hey,

According to what I've read in preview at IGN, the 4th Phoenix Wright game doesnt acually have Phoenix Wright in it? It takes place sometime after the original, and you play as a new rookie lawyer.
So maybe the 3rd one is the end of the "Phoenix" story arc?
The 5th case in PW1 is getting wierder by the minute, but obviously
Spoiler:
Goodman couldnt be in 2 places at once. That's impossible. Meekins didnt know Goodman, so he could of seen someone who just LOOKED like Goodman or was dressed up as him...)

Just finished the game!
The judge is indeed a goofball,
Spoiler:
And Lana may have been cleared of murder but there's lots of other things for her to be charged with. Gant is such an asshole.
The ending is kinda cute, nice "aawww" moments when Ema and Lana make up together and she's warm and friendly again

I liked seeing older characters say goodbye too

Does the 2nd game start where the 1st ended?

I'll get the 2nd game soon.
I'm not sure about a new character in a later game, right now I've got attatched to Phoenix That may change after playing 2 and 3 though.
Spoiler:
At the end you present the Evidence List as an example of working together with Edgeworth, he had one half, Phoenix has the other, it was an example of "something Edgeworth and I couldn't find on our own". Can you feel the love?

It's about two years later, I think.

Actually I think its 6 months or something, but it doesnt really matter TBH, at the start of this 2nd game for some reason
Spoiler:
Phoenix gets whacked on the head, giving him amnesia, so he forgets how to be an attorney (?)
I guess this is to help new players who have never played the 1st game and maybe make the 2nd game stand more on its own?

Phoenix Wright 4 shipping on 1 January 2008 (according to Amazon).
They don't ship video games to the UK though.

That date is just a placeholder. Capcom hasn't even officially annouced the 4th game for a US release, although I'm sure they will. I would expect it to probably come out sometime after the first half of 2008 since the 3rd game isn't coming out until September '07.

OK, thanks
BTW I know the Japanese version of Justice For All contains the full US game but does it have English language instructions too (ie is the instruction manual in English)?

I just ordered Justice for All from Movietyme
Are there another DS games of a similar calibre with the same sort of "drama" as Phoenix? Hotel Dusk or Lifesigns maybe?

That was pretty much to be able to make the first case a tutorial one. He's fine by the end of that and the second case is normal.

I'm not going to read that spoiler
It's a shame PW2 has no DS exclusive episode, though the cases are quite long I hear. At the end of Episode 5 of PW1 I was going "awww" when ends were tied up, like an animé/drama ending

I don't think Edgeworth is in the 2nd one, he's not your rival anymore, Manfred Von Karma's daughter is.
What's the deal with Edgeworth anyway? As Pixyjunket said the 4th case had a subtext to it (you'll have to point out lines to me), is something going on?

I'm getting in on this thread late, but I really liked PW1. I gave it to my wife to play now, and I'll be getting PW2 soon.

The last case was just way too long though, I know they wanted to go with a big finish and all, but come on.

I agree with you in a way, it went on for ages didn't it? Just when you thought it was finished it would get longer and longer.
Spoiler:
Ema was a bit stupid, she knew her prints were on the cloth so she'd be implicated!? I matched Ema's print to it. It's quite sad though In a flashback to Case 4 (when Edgeworth thinks he shot his father), despite the dark suggestion I knew (or was pretty sure) Ema hadn't killed Marshall

I hope PW3/4 has a DS exclusive case though as despite being long, "Rise From The Ashes" was very well done.

I just started playing PW2.
The first case seems
Spoiler:
so far, a bit like Case 2 and 5 from the first game, where the real criminal writes someone's name to frame them....

See.. I didn't care for Phoenix Wright either. I didn't even make it as far as you did. I gave up pretty quickly because I found the whole thing tedious. I played the 2nd PW, and I remember in the village feeling like I had to just keep going back and forth between the 3-4 rooms just to force the game to progress.

I liked Hotel Dusk 10x better. I pretty much played HD every day until I beat it. I was hooked. I liked story, interface, and gameplay way better than PW. I'd much rather see more adventure games like Hotel Dusk come out.

So did you like Trace Memory as well?

Haven't played it. I've been curious about it, but not enough to pick it up (mostly because reviews were pretty lukewarm).

I picked this game up at a Toys R Us clearance sale for $9.99 (along with Gunstar Super Heroes at the same price). Definitely well worth it—I've pretty much been playing it nonstop.

Considering buying Hotel Dusk and Trace Memory as well.

Episode 1 of PW2 was quite quickly done, it seemed longer than it actually was.
I didnt "understand" it though...
Spoiler:
I mean, Wellington killed Dustin as he was worried he'd get exposed as a con artist, but why frame Maggey by having Dustin scrawl her name? All he wanted at first was his phone back. He was the guy who gave Phoenix amnesia.

Case 2 is pretty shocking ATM.
I havent done the "Psyche-Lock" feature yet.
So far, more of the same really. But thats not a bad thing, I like the old characters returning (Maya, Lotta) and the continuity

Finished Case 2 -

Spoiler:
I liked how the main case was done but the explanation of why Maya was framed by her aunt seemed tacked on quickly at the end (I worked it out pretty quickly). You can maybe guess from her name she's up to no good - Morgan Fey = Morgan La Fey?

I like Pearls - she's so cute!

At this rate I'll have nothing to do until PW 3.
I just thought this would be a good game to have on Wii, with voice acting perhaps?

Just beaten PW: Justice for All

I've just completed Justice For All. A fine game, I'd give it 4/5.

Basically more of the same as the last game really, and yes, I did find Case 1 disappointing. I understand this is to ease in new players, and its done in a clever way, but this makes the first case too short.
I also thought it was a shame that the 2nd game didnt have a DS exclusive case like the first one did. However, it's hard not to like this game as it seems to have been created with much care and love. Like Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney, It's very well written, with it's mix of animé humour and dramatic stories, and I really cared about what happened to Phoenix and the other characters It's nice this game has continuity, with older characters popping up, and making references to what happened in the last game.
The 4th and last case is well worth waiting for, and really well done IMO
Sadly, by its nature it doesnt seem to have much replay value. What do I do until PW 3 is released?
